Did you know that this year marks 20 years since gay marriage was legalized in MA?

BT owner, Valerie, and her wife Rebecca took happy advantage of this new law and legally tied the knot in 2004.

Cambridge Local First is looking for a new Executive Director!

Cambridge Local First is a non-profit network of locally owned and independent businesses formed in October 2005 to build a strong local economy and a vibrant community. We do this by educating the public and government about the significant environmental, economic, and cultural benefits of a strong local economy; providing resources and technical support to local independent businesses; advocating on behalf of independent businesses on the local and state level; and, providing networking opportunities for local business owners.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will have overall strategic, financial, and operational responsibility for Cambridge Local First’s programs, member recruitment and retention, achievement of Board-specified goals, and ex*****on of its mission and program implementation. This person will possess or develop deep knowledge of the small business ecosystem as well as the organization's core programs and operations.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! How has your 2024 been so far?

PIE DAY is right around the corner! 🥧

Each year Basil Tree staff, friends, and family gather on the Sunday before Thanksgiving to handroll, crimp, and fill pies to contribute to Pie In the Sky Fundraiser. This year Basil Tree will be baking 300 pies for the 31st annual Pie In the Sky!

Pie in the Sky funds Community Servings’ philanthropic meal program, which annually prepares and delivers more than 800,000 scratch-made medically tailored meals to individuals and families across the state impacted by a range of critical and chronic illnesses, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease, HIV/AIDS, and more.

Please consider buying a pie to help nourish our neighbor in need!

THANK YOU to our friends at Community Cooks for sharing these notes from their JOYWeavers campers! Basil Tree donated breakfast for a series of their summer sessions.

JOYWeavers is a five-week summer camp that provides community, mentoring relationships, and programming that promotes social-emotional development, learning and JOY.

Their mission is to support families affected by trauma, disability, or school challenges, JOYweavers offers accessible programming for children, work experiences for teens, advocacy and resources for caregivers, and most importantly, community for all to feel welcomed, known and valued.
