Day 28 : Rest

Rest. They say it’s as vital as proper nutrition and exercise for the body. Yet, I fight it. More rest for the mind and body. Spirit too. Yes, please.

Day 26 : Quiet Moment

Quiet moments are rare for me. One of my goals for 2025 is to take more advantage of opportunities for a quiet moment.
Making time for a quiet moment is good, but learning to take a quiet moment when the opportunity arises is better.
So thankful I took time to reflect on some of these moments.

Day 24 : Traditions

We love any reason to celebrate here in this house! All the big and small holidays, all the special days and events. Heck, I will even make a big deal out of a random Tuesday if you let me! 😅

I love traditions, but I am not opposed to retiring one or starting another. Different seasons of life and growth sometimes require change. Here are some little things we do in this house that I hope my kids might carry on in theirs one day.

Christmas morning is when we open gifts. I mean, we have to wait for Santa, after all. We start with a word from dad or me or both. He may read the Christmas story from the Bible, or say a few words of reflection on the year, talk about gratitude and say a little prayer. Stockings are opened first and then each person hands out their gifts to the recipient. I love this part the best because I get to see what the kids have chosen for each other.

I love to do special treats for them on Valentine’s Day - or Balentimes as it is called in this house. Everything pink and red and usually a special meal at dinner too. 💕

Day 23 : Hearts ♥️

Y’all know I’m all about the hearts. At first I thought I would be posting about all the special “found hearts” this year.

Hearts I found and hearts that some of you all have found and sent to me (I love them, by the way) - but a huge part of 2024 was about cheering this guy on in his Senior season of football! Such an emotional ride!

He has had several offers to go and play at different colleges. We are so proud of him and are excited that we will be watching him play again, but nothing will be like those Friday Night Lights being a Poly Bear! 🧡💚

My heart will always be on “the line” for my O-lineman! ☺️

Day 17 : Favorite Day of 2024

My favorite day is always going to be when I have all my kiddos “under the same roof”.
They may all be young adults now - and I’m so proud of who they are each becoming - but, they will always be my babies and I will always want more time with them. ♥️
With my oldest living over 2500 miles away and the other three with their busy, crazy schedules, it’s tough to even share a meal together. Han got to come in for Marco’s Senior game. It was a short and quick visit but for those few days, I was a very happy Mama Bear.

Day 16 : Memorable Meal in 2024

There were so many memorable meals this year - of course - but this one was recent and is a great memory. Marco took me, along with the kids, to a brunch buffet like no other! It’s called Habana at the Irvine Spectrum
The food and ambience was wonderful and the vintage Cuban theme throughout the restaurant made it even better.
The thing that made it most memorable though is that everyone was happy. The kids and Marco showered me with sweet gifts and cards they chose just for me and we were all just vibing. You know? I hope we can do it again soon!

Day 14 : cat or dog

Got to spend some time with my guy in Vegas while he was there for a work trip. Turns out they were also holding the big National Finals Rodeo and Cowboy Christmas there at the hotel.

This beautiful king of cats donned this giant cowboy hat. Was so cool and totally fit the vibe for the event!

Day 13 : Biggest lesson of 2024

Hold your people close. We do not know what tomorrow holds for any of us. No matter how much you prepare or plan. And so we pray and -

Hold them close.

Be soft and kind.

Laugh.

Forgive.

Slow down.

Make the memories.

SAVOR THE MOMENT.

Day 11 : 2024 in one photo … maybe two. 😅

Nothing matters more than to have all my babies together at one time. 🐼🐻🐨🐻‍❄️

My oldest lives literally on the opposite side of the country and the other three will be out on their own soon too. I know that’s how things go. I know that’s a part of life and I’m so proud of them all - Who they are and who they are becoming - but I don’t love it.

If it were up to me we would all@live on the same block or property. So I could squish them@any time that I want.

I will always cherish these moments and they will always be the highlight of my year. ♥️

Day 10 : I said hello to …

making time to read again - for pleasure! I’ve always loved reading and used to read all the time!! 📚

Somewhere along the way I got too busy to read anything other than the occasional “self-help” or devotional. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My sister, Esther () really encouraged me to slow down and make time for reading again. ♥️

Now I’m back to reading physical books, listening to audiobooks, participating in group reads - and even was gifted a new and updated Kindle! 📖

I’ve ready so many good books this year!! So glad I got back to it. ☺️

Our Story

I like the idea of giving something new life or creating something that is memorable or will bring joy to the recipient. I mean, isn’t that how it is with Christ? He creates in us a new heart. He makes all things new. He can take something broken and make it beautiful and give it purpose. Altered to Perfection!

I started out making banners, journals, teacher gifts, greeting cards and more. I made them for myself or as gifts, but then started getting requests from others and the word got out that I “make stuff”. :)

I currently still work a job outside the home full-time and then work at Altered to Perfection on the evenings and weekends as much as my schedule will allow. Maybe one day it will be my day job too!

I’ve been making wood signs mostly, along with my husband Marco - he’s the carpenter in this operation. :) But I will still make banners and other items at request. How about something personalized or custom made for yourself or that special someone on your gift list? If you don't see what you're looking for - let me know! I will be happy to work with you to come up with something special!
