Had a wedding at .venue last night, and wow, what a well-thought out venue! Amazing owners, and you can tell by all the details that they considered the vendors as well as the clients when designing everything. Great parking for us, easy to roll in, no stairs, lots of wide doors that can open to the outside from multiple sides of the building, or fully close to use THE AMAZING A/C that works so well! It was definitely needed yesterday. Even with tons of electrolyte drinks, I was still feeling sluggish and brain-fogged. Hot weather can go away now! So thankful Javier was there to take the pressure off of me, and that the Hawaiian menu we had is very quick to execute. I started working at our shop at 3am, before it got hot, because I knew I would be useless once it went over 85 degrees. I got all of the prep done, and we just had to do last minute cooking in the searing heat. So grateful for amazing employees that picked up the slack for me, and the best bartender ever , , who I trust completely, and makes my life so easy. I just point to the bar, and he makes it happen.

Onsite for another locally-filmed movie! One of my favorite lunches we’ve made, I love pork tenderloin and stuffed pasta shells. That was a tasty meal after a busy day!

Friday & Saturday last week were insane! On Friday we dropped off breakfast and lunch for a movie, had four lunch holiday parties, and two dinner holiday parties. Saturday we dropped off an upscale taco bar for an amazing repeat client, and catered private chef style for a company holiday party in one of their rental houses (which was ENORMOUS and gorgeous and had my dream kitchen!). We are so grateful for our amazing crew and our wonderful clients, almost all of which were repeat customers, our favorite kind!

Is there anything better than a fresh picked tomato? I grew a sad, tiny garden this year (my mom did most of the work, while I killed everything 😂) but my tomatoes and onions survived even my neglect! Yay for warm tomatoes fresh from the vine sprinkled with sea salt!

Just finished our biggest event EVER! 700 people for dinner, then 700 people for brunch the next day. We had the best crew, they all worked their tails off, and kept smiles on their faces the entire time. So much laughter. Even while I ran around looking stressed the whole day, cause that’s what I do 😂 I just care ok! I take so much pride in what we do, and just want everything to go perfectly. Ready for 8 hours of sleep now!

The best part of the job: finding locations like this that would not be accessible under other circumstances. This annual event we cater allows us on private properties all over Oregon. This year there was a private waterfall in a canyon! The weather was brutal, but the kitchen we took had a/c, so that helped immensely. But definitely glad to be back home, with level ground, real bathrooms and beds 😂

Is there anything more mood-lifting than someone dropping off a thank you card? Yes! Someone dropping off and thank you card AND a gorgeous bouquet of flowers! Our clients are beyond compare and make our often stressful job so very rewarding. Thank you ! Can’t wait to see someday!

Now this was an interesting day! Timberline Lodge, 23 degrees, and incredibly windy. We kept everyone warm with our hot breakfast (breakfast burritos are the most popular, as they are filling and work as hand warmers!) and we swapped out our usual salad options for a hearty soup. These faces are my reasons for getting vaccinated. I would do anything to keep them from harm of any kind; My deepest fear is not being able to protect them. But my story is deeper than that.

As a child, I was prone to fever-induced seizures. Because of this, my mom was hesitant to give me any vaccine that could possibly increase my risk of seizing. There was at least one vaccine I never received until I was an adult, and she never had me receive more than one vaccine per visit. My health and safety really depended on herd immunity. The more vaccinated people around me, the safer I was. Our family received the COVID-19 vaccine to protect ourselves. But also to do our part to protect others around us, like my 18-month old daughter who is still too young to receive the vaccine. Or the many people who can’t vaccinate due to age or health conditions. So yes, we are vaccinated for many reasons. If we contract COVID-19, we will have to shut down our business, which hurts us financially. My kids will miss school, and I’m really afraid how that will affect their mental health. Also, parents, there is almost nothing worse than a sick child, correct? Even if it’s just a cold, dealing with the sleep loss, extra bodily fluids and missed work is a nightmare. Parenting decisions can be so difficult, but deciding to trust science and vaccinate my family against Covid-19 was easy.

This wedding client decided on an assortment of small bites rather than a full meal. But no one went hungry! This service method has been popular for a while now. People like that it is laid back, and doesn’t require time or space for a sit down meal. Don’t assume it will be cheaper however! A nice selection of small bites can add up quickly, and can require more service staff as well. Gorgeous wedding right on the shores of Quinault Lake. The rehearsal dinner was a VERY wet affair, but nothing could “dampen” (😂) the spirits of this group! They were friendly and relaxed the entire weekend, even while facing constant challenges. And the wedding day was perfect! A rainbow and a heron (not a bird expert, just my best guess) even visited the ceremony site. We are very relieved to have a break today, as the last couple of days were exhausting, but we were happy to be a part of such a beautiful day.
