ANNOUNCEMENT! I am turning 40 soon. It’s beyond bizarre for me to look around for the adult in the room and realize I am her. I’ve always had an old (bossy 😏) soul and I never felt like a child even as a child- big firstborn energy. I also never felt like I was the expert. I have embraced a “fake it til you make it” confidence and have pushed through more anxiety and fear than I care to admit. At the risk of jinxing it, I’m claiming my expertise. I know what I’m doing and I’m so proud of myself. These cuties. What a gift when colleagues become clients and then clients become friends. Professionalism can be such a barrier to relationship for me. I am reminded that being human is so much more beautiful than being a perfectly producing machine. Thank you for being a real, beautiful person and being so kind. Thankful for all my friends that I have made on this journey.

Turned ten this month. To celebrate I just read reviews by past clients and was reminded of how many beautiful, incredible, kind people have trusted me and given me opportunity. It hasn’t been perfect but it has been a very good thing. I am glad I was brave enough to try to create something.

Hey it’s me. Got that low level anxiety every day over the fall season of events. Anybody else? No weddings for me this fall, only non-profit stuff. I am so thankful to be planning really important things for the organizations and people that I love, but I am also terrified that I will mess up really important things for the organizations and people that I love. Instagram content as therapy? Just me? I’ll just be over here breathing into a paper bag and trying to being brave. Who is with me?

Max & Dexter is a Design Firm specializing in beautiful, branded, budget-conscious weddings and events. Lauren founded the business in 2012 and named it after her son-Maximus and Boston Terrier- Dexter. M&D operates primarily out of Central Virginia and South Jersey but will travel or work remotely to help you create and facilitate your brand anywhere!
