Dreamy photography for weddings + elopements + portraits + special events
It's my pleasure to announce a new wedding booking: October 19th, 2024 in Pennsauken, New Jersey (Just outside of Philadelphia).
This will be my first wedding in New Jersey, so I'm looking forward to adding that star!
Berry College in Mt. Berry Georgia, which is in the Rome, Georgia area, is one of the most beautiful campuses I’ve ever visited, and I was so happy to be able to go back there recently.
I was there to photograph the high school senior portrait session for Elizabeth Claire, who will be graduating in the spring of 2024.
Talk about a stunning and fantastic shoot!
Elizabeth Claire was aces to work with throughout the session, and her personality shined throughout the time we spent on the campus of Berry College.
It was a rather warm August day, but we didn’t let that get us down. In fact, a storm was on the horizon, and that added a great bit of moodiness and dreaminess to the sky and setting on campus.
This was my first time back to Berry College in over a decade, and I’m so happy to have been able to shoot Elizabeth Claire’s high school senior portraits here.
I want to wish her all the best in her senior year of high school!

The mood and vibe of this day was 100% perfect.

This happy couple had an absolutely GORGEOUS and intimate wedding celebration in Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
Their celebration took place in front of their immediate family members, and it was such a delight to be able to witness + photograph.
Jackson’s family home was the base of operations for everyone, and it was a great setting for the wedding day.
Gabrielle + Jackson had a touching first-look moment in front of the home and then enjoyed the day with their family members.
When golden hour hit, we all walked down to the beach for Gabrielle + Jackson’s wedding ceremony.
It was a beautiful event fitting for such a beautiful day.
I then got lots of pictures with Gabrielle + Jackson on the beautiful Kiawah Island beach before the couple joined their family members back at the house for a delicious dinner.
Please let me take this moment to send a word of thanks to Gabrielle + Jackson for having me come to Kiawah Island and photograph their wedding celebration.
It was such a delight, and I am so glad I got to be their photographer!

I love getting to shoot engagements + weddings in the Low Country region of South Carolina! On the weekend of August 18th and 19th, I had the pleasure of doing both with Gabrielle + Jackson.
This happy couple tied the knot in Kiawah Island, South Carolina, but, the day before their wedding celebration, we got to together for a really fun and really beautiful engagement session.
The shoot took place very near the house and beach area where their wedding would happen the next day.
It was a warm August afternoon in South Carolina, and that added to the dreamy feel and vibes the Low Country region was giving off that day.
Gabrielle + Jackson were so great to work with throughout this shoot, and it really set the tone for what turned out to be a fantastic wedding day experience.

A sneak preview from Gabrielle + Jackson's Day Before the Wedding shoot... | Kiawah Island, South Carolina
We’re jumping back to last May to take a look at what turned out to be one of my favorite portrait/couples sessions I’ve ever photographed!
I had a wedding in Southern California during that time, so I put a call out to see if anyone wanted to do a portrait session in Palm Springs.
Palm Springs had been at the top of my list of places to do a photo shoot of some type for the longest time.
That’s why I was so happy when Zuriah responded and set up a portrait session for her and Lance.
We met on a warm day in the desert and took photos all over Palm Springs. It was so much fun capturing the look and feel of the city, especially the gorgeous architecture and stunning natural landscapes.
Getting to go to places like this and working with fantastic couples like Zuriah + Lance are such wonderful things about what I get to do as a photographer.

When I say I want my wedding + elopement photos to have a dreamy look, THIS is the wedding that I’m always chasing.
Mary Elizabeth + Jason got married on the morning of New Year's Eve back in 2020. The ceremony took place on the cattle ranch belonging to Jason’s family in Ashland, Alabama.
A fog had settled in that morning, and I just knew it would make the photos look stunning.
I had no idea how stunning they’d actually be until I got back home that day and started to process them.
You’ll never hear me describe my photos as “bright and airy” or “dark and moody”. It will always be “dreamy” because of this wedding.
I used the first photo as my main promotional image for the longest time, and I’m happy to be bringing it back into the rotation of things.

This happy couple tied the knot at The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station in Haddam, Connecticut on August 5th.
It was a beautiful day from start to finish, and I had such a fantastic time being Lindsey + Brad’s photographer.
Everything about the day was aces!
For the first look and pre-wedding photos, we were actually at Eagle’s Landing State Park, which is just down the road from The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station.
It was a beautiful spot right on the river and set the stage for all the beautiful ceremony photos at the venue later in the day.
For the look of the photos, I wanted to really go deep into the dreamy feel of things while also cooling down the overall temperature since it was a rather warm and sunny day.
I want to thank Lindsey + Brad so much for choosing me to be their photographer. It was an honor, and I’m so glad I got to be a part of their celebration.

Greetings from Connecticut!
I’m back in the Nutmeg State getting ready to photograph Lindsey + Brad’s wedding in Haddam. In advance of that celebration, I wanted to share a few photos from their beautiful engagement session.
We did these in Tuscaloosa, Alabama back in October. It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, and I had such a great time working with Lindsey, Brad, and their adorable pup.
I know it’s going to be a fantastic time photographing their wedding, and I can’t wait to document all the special moments for them!

Brittany + Alex | Tacoma, Washington | July 29th, 2023
I’m so happy to be able to share the third and final part of Brittany + Alex’s wonderful engagement session!
All of these photos were taken throughout the Tacoma, Washington area.
Our specific locations included the Point Defiance Rose Garden, Stadium High School (As seen in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You), the Tacoma Glass Museum, and one final special location.
�We ended the shoot at Mount Tahoma High School. This is where Brittany + Alex first met, and it was such a great place to include during the session.
I had an absolutely fantastic time working with Brittany + Alex on this shoot, and I can’t wait to go back up to the Tacoma area in October to photograph their wedding.

If you’ve never been, the grounds have absolutely gorgeous gardens throughout while also being decorated with eclectic pieces of art.
In other words, it was an ACES location for an engagement session!

In advance of their big day, I headed up to the Pacific Northwest for what turned out to be an amazing engagement session.
We actually worked together last year on a family session, but this shoot was a true engagement session.
The day started on the beach in beautiful Westport, Washington. Brittany is a huge fan of The Little Mermaid, so she wanted to style the beach photos in the mood of that film.
Her hair and dress looked radiant and befitting Ariel!
We got lots of great photos on the beach before heading into the quaint town of Westport. It was my first time in the area, and I loved exploring with Brittany + Alex.
This is only part 1 of their engagement session. After the beach, we went to the Westport Winery and then drove to Tacoma to finish the day. Photos from those shoots will be released in the near future.

I hadn’t shot a wedding in Connecticut since 2012, so I was thrilled to get to go back to the Nutmeg State and work with Emily + Dan.
Everything was lovely throughout their wedding day, and they had gorgeous locations that helped produce fantastic photos.
I had a blast covering this wedding, and I want to thank Emily + Dan so much for choosing me as their photographer. It was an aces experience all around!

So today is a pretty special day... it's the 15th anniversary/birthday/etc. of when the first iteration of dsmithimages.com went live.
All my photos had been on a Flickr account before that, so this was the first real big step in establishing my actual business.
My website has been through SEVERAL iterations and designs since then. Because of the 15th anniversary, I decided to do a pretty major project this summer.
I split my site into three sites:
DSI Weddings: Strictly my wedding photography work
DSI Portraits: Strictly my portrait photography work
David A. Smith Photos: My concert, places, and event photography work
My original website, though, remains and always will remain. It's now a portal that will direct people to the specific website they're looking for.
