As a photographer, I think I may always have a backlog of photos to go through and edit, and I usually do in slow motion (which I remind myself is perfectly ok!). The first few days of our Iceland trip this past fall featured lots of water (like a hot river complete with boardwalk infrastructure, countless waterfalls), sleeping in a prairie with a delirious view of the Aurora the first and only night, and so many Nutella sandwiches so we could maximize nature time and be a lil frugal. We didn’t elope as planned (2020 lol) but we made it there finally. 🧊🏝️

A chronological series of “bump pics” that I asked my mom to send. A big thank you to my mom and all of the moms who have helped raise everyone to be kinder humans. The last photo is of me earthside, since I’m the youngest of four and my mom usually took most of the photos, she only has a few of us when I was the “bump,” and really I was more of a zygote, but that’s just the way it was before camera phones. Love you, mom! ❤️

Two things: the headshot I submitted for a badge got rejected because the background wasn’t solid enough (it was a white drape 🤷‍♀️) and the directions also indicated that “no shadows are allowed” which I laughed at and then proceeded to light this new one the way I wanted to light it. Let’s see if rejection #2 is in my future or not…
Thanks to my partner for making this a 10-minute shoot and capturing my professional (but not too professional) presence.

Grateful always for the opportunity to shoot, and especially when said shoot involves bffs, crafts, crying tears of joy, being outside in nature, and eating the best durn popsicles I’ve ever had in my life. I don’t do many weddings, but when I do, it’s always worth it.

Happy Father’s Day to my dad, who taught me so much about taking your time, being careful with money, driving a car, reusing and repurposing things, enjoying a beer, and loading the dishwasher (correctly). Miss you so much and cannot wait to see you after such a year. And happy birthday and first day of summer tomorrow!

Sitting together around mom (in birth order) as she tells stories from old photo books back in 2019. My mom says she always wanted to have daughters and the universe heard her (though not without trials and tribulations). A special thanks to my mom and all of the moms and mom figures who show us the way to be kind, thoughtful humans, and love us just the way we are. We love you so much and can’t wait for more stories and more hugs soon.

A mix of playtime sprinkled with a few sits, tickles, and squishing faces together; I didn’t exactly convince the kids into thinking they weren’t being posed but I snuck a few good ones in there. And I think we all napped afterwards. Somebody got ice cream too but it wasn’t me! 🍦

I love this family photo so much. I met Becca and little Huckleberry the first day I arrived in the Bay in 2009. Becca picked me up from BART and Huckleberry howled on the long steps up to my sister’s apartment. Temecula is one of the very few horses I know, and it is always a treat to visit the stables.

Do you ever feel like a sneaky bear going out for a midnight snack? I do.
Looking forward to spring and then summer and then camping!!! I grew up with berry thickets and there is something truly magical about them, especially since humans tend to get to share in the fruit (which is sometimes not true of peaches, cherries, etc., looking at you, bird friends). My parents could literally fill their freezers every year with wild black raspberries. I can just fill my belly when the opportunity arises.

Digging up my best LinkedIn pose from 4 years ago as I reflect on opening a new career chapter this week entering into a 6 month client contract, the longest client relationship I’ve had since I started freelancing nearly a decade ago. It’s exciting! And terrifying. I’m ok with both.
4-year blocks of time always remind me of college or high school (which I actually did in 3 because I wanted it over asap). This photo is the equivalent of freshman bb Christie.
So. Tiny Oak Media isn’t going anywhere, I’m just not booking bigger projects until mid to late 2021 as I focus on new growth and the work in my orbit already.
Every video production, photo session, side passion project, happy hour with colleagues, adventure trip, kind word and support, critique of the work, referral, and mentor (especially Molly, Larry, Aaron, Esther) got me to this spot and I’m grateful for it all (even the annoying moments - I learned a lot). Here’s to the next graduation.
