Family: It’s Always About Family
Living in Vail has taught me that family isn’t just about those we’re related to—it’s also about the friends who become part of our lives along the way. Here, my definition of family has grown, and I couldn’t be more grateful for it.
This sense of togetherness was on full display as my family and I gathered to enjoy the opening night of the Vail Winterfest Ice Sculptures. From the enchanting music by DJ Enrique to the warm treats served by Mountain Standard and Two Arrows, the evening was a celebration of community and artistry. The chance to meet the talented ice artists, Paul Wertin and Jake Proffit of Alpine Ice, and hear about the intricate process behind their incredible owl sculptures was a highlight we’ll cherish.
What made the night even more special was seeing the community come together—friends, neighbors, and the dedicated Town of Vail team and council, business owners, Jana and Matt, all celebrating the stunning creations that now grace our winter wonderland. A heartfelt congratulations to Molly Eppard and the Vail Winterfest /AIPP board for curating such a magical experience. The beauty of Vail has always been remarkable, but events like this remind us how much heart and talent make it truly extraordinary.
We left the event not only in awe of the artistry but also deeply grateful to call this place—and these people—our home. Ashley
