Atlantic Center for the Arts : Gustavo Matamoros performing acoustical analysis of the gallery
for the sound installation "Chappell's Chapel"
opening friday June 28th.

This installation honors the poet Fred Chapel and is designed to augment the Robin Brailsford exhibition "Dear Robin/Love Fred."

The installation is as much a portrait of Fred Chapel as it incorporates micro-phonemes from a recording of his reading of the poem "Duet."

Our Story

MISSION

The mission of the Subtropics Organization (a.k.a. South Florida Composers Alliance, SFCA) is to enable experimental music and sound art.

To fulfill this mission, Subtropics produces new work through Artist Residencies, Sound Art and Recording Services.

It has presented it to broad audiences through projects like: the Listening Gallery, a public sound art exhibition platform; Frozen Music, an electroacoustic music ensemble specialized in site-responsive performance-installations in public spaces; and the Subtropics Festival, a now biennial world renown festival of Experimental Music and Sound Art featuring artists from across the globe.
