Who's that sporting Winthrop Rhythm & Blues Festival swag??? Duffy Bishop of course! Duffy and her fabulous partner in crime Chris Carlson visited the NW this past week to celebrate 35 years of Blues at the Salmon Bay Eagles, then performed at Gator Boy's Juke Joint with Joel Astley the next evening and then up to the Conway Muse. We loved having Duffy to our festival this past summer! Thanks for the love Duffy!

It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of our dear friend and long-time festival family member, Pepe Maxwell. Pepe and his incredible wife, Sue, have been an integral part of our backstage crew for nearly 25 years, helping to create the magic that makes our festival so special.

Pepe wasn’t just a team member; he was family, a part of our tribe who shared in the laughter, the hard work, and the love that binds us all together.

To Sue, and to all who knew and loved Pepe, our hearts are with you in this difficult time. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever be a part of the Winthrop Rhythm & Blues Festival.

Rest in peace, Pepe. ❤️

IT'S OFFICIAL: SR 20 North Cascades Highway is closed for the season. Closure points are Ross Dam trailhead (MP 134) to Silver Star gate (MP 171).

See you next spring North Cascades Highway!

We initially temporarily closed this route on Friday, Nov. 15, ahead of the forecasted snowfall. After a Monday morning assessment and 15 inches of new snow and wet weather in the forecast, we determined that the road will remain closed for winter due to avalanche risk.
The road will reopen in spring after crews clear the snow and make needed repairs. See you in the spring!

Big shoutout! 🎉 The Winthrop Rhythm & Blues Festival recently brought home some serious hardware from the WFEA Conference! 🏆 We snagged awards for Best Poster, Best T-shirt, Best Logistical Achievement (oh, the hurdles we jumped this year!), Best Social Media Ad Campaign, and Best Radio Ads! PLUS, we were blown away to receive the Grand Summit Award – WFEA’s top honor for marketing. 🎶✨

And…drumroll…our amazing crew and festival Executive Director, Erika Olsen, snagged the Organizer of the Year award! 🎤🌟 Surviving fires, highway closures, excessive heat — and even a global IT meltdown that cancelled or complicated air travel for four of our national acts — the festival went on. This award is an honor that truly captures the blood, sweat, and rhythm we pour into making every moment unforgettable.
