š£Session prep tips for families:
1.Check EVERYONES wardrobe fit two weeks before your session.
Itās important that everything fits properly as it can be very difficult for your photographer to correct ill-fitted clothing in editing (if they are even willing), and the last thing you want to be doing is fidgeting with your outfit the entire session.
Check:
-The bust area
-Wear a good bra that doesnāt show (unless youāre wearing a bralette)
-Make sure pants fit properly around the waist and ankles (make sure you can sit and bend)
2.If you have infants/toddlers:
Bring an extra outfit in the same color palette in case of
-A blowout
-š¤®
-Or other accident
Arrive early to your session and put outfit #1 on at location
3.Talk to your kids about your upcoming session!
Prepare them and get them excited! Establish expeditions, and chat about a reward they will receive food good behavior.
I promise, doing all of these things will help avoid obstacles the day of your sessionšš¼

Putting together a wardrobe can be frustratingā¦I get it.
But trust me when I say, avoid having your entire family match.
Itās probably safe to say each member of your family has their own personality, right? Youāre all unique individualsā¦donāt loose that uniqueness with one look for all!
Think of your pictures as a painting. When creating your canvas, every color, every pattern, and ever texture serves a purpose, is intentional, and adds to the overall beauty of the painting. Your wardrobe serves this exact purpose.
Soā¦wear pieces that will add to your canvas šš¼ and if you have a photographer who wants to help, (and you love their portfolio showcasing their styling) let themš

I am at a loss for words. Pretty in Polka Dots does it two more times! This company is amazing. I posted on my Instagram page about tips when booking a photographer. The BIG tip was booking minimally 6 weeks out from the date youāre hoping to have photos taken and thereās a laundry list of reasons why, to include wardrobe. My past clients will tell you, I preach preach preach the importance of putting together a fabulous wardrobe. What you wear DOES make a difference in the overall look of your images; itās what you see in the frame! Most often my clients are ordering some, if not all, their pieces online. Hereās the process in a nutshell:
1. I need time to first create your look (Iāll send you color palettes to choose from, get sizing and information about styles you like/donāt like
2. Iāll get your approval on the wardrobe I put together and make changes where necessary
3. You (the client) will order those pieces or go out and buy them. If you ordered online thereās the wait time for everything to come in
4. Then you need to do a try-on to ensure you love the fit. If you donāt, then itās back to the drawing board.
This CANāT be achieved in a stress free manner under 6 weeks, trust me! I typically will not book clients who inquire 3 weeks out or less (even if I have openings) and thats because my process IS important, and it works. So if you know you want to have photos taken, youāve got your heart set on a photographer, donāt wait! 6 months, 4 months, thatās not too early, thatās PERFECT timing!
Video is of my May 2020 client trying on her dress and looking and feeling fierce! Weāve finished her wardrobe look and now we just have some small details to lock in with PLENTY of time to do so, and relaxšš¼
