hours of the night, or sound-scoring an episode for our podcast, The Ruby Hour, where we pour out intimate stories from our lives, as well as interview fellow creatives and entrepreneurs in our community. We are champions and advocates for women finding their sense of power, prowess, and beauty, no matter what cards they're dealt. 🤠 ⚡ TEXAS COMES TO CHARLESTON: Celia and Bill's SOLAR ECLIPSE Wild Dunes Wedding Video, Charleston, SC ⚡
As a fellow Texan, it's always the biggest joy to have our Texas clients come to the low country. For this soundscore, I wanted it to feel as big and proud, playful and sweethearted as these two and their energy together.
With a nod to the Texas roots, I slipped a little Patsy Cline and Hank Williams in the soundscore (How could I not, with these two outlaws?!) I could hardly hold my camera straight, listening to the speeches recounted by Bill's family members and dear friends.

"I don't want my brand shoot to look staged." "I'm afraid it'll look too styled." ...Imma let you in on a secret... I (Shelby) am the queen of improv and the queen of PLAY. I give the most absurd cues, prompts, roles to play, because the secret to my genius? Getting you out of your stories, and into that beautiful body of yours. The QUEEN of embodiment herself: Kristen Clark. :) This was the most insane moment of watching her drop RIGHT into owning that moment of a mock meeting with a client. Absolutely brilliant!!!

This One’s A Dive Ball, This One’s A Day Ball, This One’s A Fisherman’s…
We were the Goldilocks of the mooring field. Each mooring ball had scraggly descriptions and faded colors. We'd pick one, start threading our lines through, and then promptly have a local drive by and let us know it’s meant for dives, or day tours, or a private fisherman’s mooring. Around 45 minutes later, we made our way to the far end of the field. We went ashore; I had a dizzy spell hit me after being at the front of the boat, bouncing in search of the perfect mooring.
We met Cody, a local Saban who brought his favorite puppy, Shiloh, to the water for the first time. We spotted them hanging out at one of the Santo bars. I was promptly overcome by the combo of handsome and cuteness, and had no choice but to document them.
We ate chicken and beef empanadas with beer, and my stomach settled; making fast friends with Alfonso, the owner of the small bar we walked into at Fort Bay.

We'd like to stop and take a moment to talk about this incredible duo right here. Joansie and Rae? Rock. solid. These two are what one might call the Rosetta Stone of our editing department. Joansie has an impeccable way with detail, and picking unusual objects to stand upon in inopportune moments. Rae is one of the most steadfast, fast learning Creatrixes of our time. These two (along with Sheriff Duck) make sure our post-production timelines are met, managed, and knock everyone's socks in a five-mile radius RIGHT OFF. We aim to please. These two? Straight GOLD.

Like many other couples, Katie B. and Sterling’s story begins with an earnest exchange of vows. But their story stands out in large part due to the picturesque venue that they chose for their ceremony and reception held on a swatch of private property on the Black River, in Georgetown and ceremony at the iconic George Winyah Parish. It all starts with a crazy idea--ours was to create wedding videos that broke away from the norm.
We wanted to challenge the traditionally sappy and overly-sentimental, stereotypical wedding video by turning it into something ultra-cool and memorable; something that decades after the “I dos”, couples will still want to watch over and over again.
And we were pretty great at it.
So it wasn’t too long after, that we found our work spilling outside the wedding industry. We started collaborating with brands and businesses, ultimately allowing us to gain momentum in ways that would allow Nest Productions to expand its services and become Ruby Riot Creatives.
It’s a change that’s as drastic as they come--but we wanted our new identity to reflect our transformation as well as our resolve to take a bold step towards the future. Something that a ruby--which is now prominently part of our brand identity--perfectly symbolizes.
The ruby is a known symbol of devotion, faithfulness and bliss to couples across all cultures--which harks back to our roots in the wedding industry. At the same time, the vibrant color of the ruby also symbolizes our passion for creativity and our goal of bringing happiness to our clients through everything we do.
We’re a team made up of hypercreatives, which makes Ruby Riot Creatives’ voice different, bold, and exciting. We bring fresh energy into everything we create. We have an instinct for what makes something memorable, and we’re a riot to work with.
