I am loving my my new hand painted canvas backdrop by Chasing Stone …. part of making beautiful flowers for me is finding a way to try and capture them behind the camera lens. I think it’s because flowers are ephemeral and fleeting and as a floral designer, I have such a desire to record and “keep” the beauty to look back on later. I look forward to improving my photography skills in the upcoming year so I can continue sharing artful images of what I make. It’s amazing how many things I make that I feel look great in person, but I can’t capture it well in a photo. I do know some great photographers, of course, but they’re not always there when I am making flowers and want to grab a photo. It’s something that I want to continue improving on. GOALS!

Hi it’s me, Mercedes, at Honeysuckle Hollow and we have some lovely items available to make your Thanksgiving extra special this year!

Our inspiration comes from the 2025 Pantone color of the year Mocha Mousse! It is a rich, earthy shade that blends sophistication with comforting warmth. I thought this would be the perfect color story to bring to your tables this Thankgiving! Not only that but we even have an ACTUAL mocha mousse cake that local baker Keri Graham has created for us! If any of you know me, you know, I love the creative process of developing a cohesive theme😂. We hope you enjoy the flowers, the cake, and all the extra pretty little accompaniments that we have available in our webshop to help make your Thanksgiving, beautiful and delicious this year!

Every holiday, I so enjoyed the creative process of coming up with unique and seasonal floral offerings . I especially love Thanksgiving as my birthday and have always felt like having a beautifully set table full of family, friends, candlelight and pie was the best gift ever. I love playing a small role in other people’s Thanksgiving celebrations too through our flowers! What’s better than being able to bring what you love to others✨

Our Thanksgiving offerings are now available on our website(link below).

I thought a fun theme this Thanksgiving would be a creative take on the 2025 Pantone color of the year- Mocha Mousse. Our Thanksgiving flower centerpieces are going to be our interpretation of a mocha mousse cake (think fluffy whites and rich mocha blooms) AND in keeping with this fun theme, we asked local baker extraordinaire if she would make a custom Mocha Mousse cake to pair with our flowers for your Thanksgiving table . She has kindly agreed! Let me say that I had the pleasure of sampling this sumptuous, airy cake when she prepared a sample for us to photograph a few weeks ago. We had fun doing a cake photo shoot 😂 and then so enjoyed sampling it. Here is how Keri describes it….

“6” Cafe’ de Olla Mousse Cake serves 8. Decadent, chocolatey, light & creamy all in one. This cake plays with flavors from a traditional Mexican coffee. With layers of chocolate sponge, spiced dark chocolate mousse, white chocolate mocha mousse, chocolate ganache & a chocolate cookie crumble garnish for crunch. It will be an unexpected treat on your holiday table”

Our newsletter came out today with all the details about our upcoming holiday offerings. I will share the link in my next post for anyone who wasnt on our email list. I love the creative process of coming up with really special and unique offerings so I can’t wait for you to see what we have in store . There are Thanksgiving, centerpieces, sweet delights from , a winter floral design class and our much-loved specialty amaryllis bulb gardens. All items are available on our website beginning today! Bring on the chilly weather, sweaters, soup, crackling fireplaces, and a house full of flowers, candlelight and loved ones 🍂

What a fun day yesterday foraging juniper/cedar berries with ! It was a beautiful fall day in the loess hills and a great community event. I look forward to doing it again next year! It was reminiscent of a winemakers grape harvest in California but instead we were collecting juniper that will flavor the incredible gin being made by Austin Foster and our local distillery .

Halloween 2025. We made some really fun, spooky Halloween flowers for a client’s party … I really love how the large, wild urns full of grapevine and bittersweet turned out. They were a lot of fun to make and full of forged fall goodies along with beautiful blooms. I also love how the large table installation felt like a Halloween jungle, and they even put in all sorts of vintage Halloween items and had an “I Spy” activity for the kids at the party where they had to really look through the table jungle, and find all sorts of creepy Halloween goodies like a vintage spider ring, old spell books, a turtle shell etc ✨ Katie Sullivan was the party planner/caterer extroirdinaire and she created many amazing touches for this fun event.

Then , to top off the evening, my husband and I were lucky enough to have been invited to the party, and I went as a crow, and he went in his English Fox Hunting equestrian attire 😂. So much fun! Hope everyone had a fun Halloween even if it was a pretty chilly night!!!

Sunday is the big day! Our newsletter announcing all our holiday offerings for the next few months will be arriving via email to everyone on the Honeysuckle Hollow list. Our newsletter recipients are the first to be notified of what we have to offer and they also get first dibs on ordering! As many of you know, we are just a small, creative design studio, so our quantities are always limited and we often sell out on items quickly. So…anybody who is not already on our newsletter email list, feel free to send me your email in messenger and I will get you added. We have a really fun creative theme for Thanksgiving this year and we have some exciting offerings to go along with your flowers. Let me just say Keri Newman Graham is collaborating with us again and she has a really specal treat in store for our customers😉😋

We also have an upcoming workshop in December and of course, our amaryllis bulb gardens… so that is just a very general teaser of what is to come.

Out in the Flower House garden today doing a little seed collecting😊 I was actually just about to walk inside the front door and get some paperwork done but…. then I got distracted and began snooping around the garden on this beautiful fall afternoon and began discovering all sorts of flowers going to seed. I decided to collect some to share with friends and to save for next year.
