Dropped off some blankets at one of the Y's in the Asheville area. Colder temps are approaching western NC. People need blankets, jackets, and other things to keep them warm. But more than anything, they need hands. Hands to help feed them. Hands to muck out their homes and businesses. Hands to traverse now undriveable landscapes to bring water, food, and hope to the many remote - and often elderly - residents of this beautiful place we simply call "the mountains." Hands to search through rubble for the bodies of people still missing. Hands to rebuild. Hands to comfort. Please give generously of your time, talent, and treasures.

Asheville is distributing supplies at the following locations:
• Asheville Middle School: 211 S. French Broad Ave., Asheville until 7 p.m. 
• The Downtown Asheville YMCA is now open daily from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. to distribute essential items to the public. This location is also open (outside) for Wi-Fi and charging.
• Lindwood Crump Shiloh Community Center: 121 Shiloh Road, Asheville until 7 p.m. 
• Lucy Herring Elementary School, 98 Sulphur Springs Road until 7 p.m.
• Pack Square Park: 70 Court Plaza from 1 p.m. “until dark”
Showers
• The Reuter Family Y in Biltmore Park is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. for showers, charging, WiFi, gymnasium, and playground
• The Corpening Memorial YMCA in Marion is open from 2-6 p.m. for showers and charging. 
Mobile Food Markets
• Saturday, October 5: Asheville Y @ 11 a.m.
• Tuesday, October 8: Asheville YMCA @ 12 p.m.
• Wednesday, October 9: Ferguson Family YMCA @ 12 p.m.

SECURITY GUARDS NEEDED IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA

Pursuant to NCGS 74C(11)(e), Aardwolf International is requesting the urgent assistance of U.S. security guards with cards issued outside North Carolina. The western third of our state has been decimated by hurricane Helene, and the needs here are immediate and great. We need guards to get in their cars and drive NOW and be here within 24 hours! The next 72 hours are critical as incidents of looting have already begun.

Per statute, we can contract with out-of-state guards to work in an unarmed capacity for up to 10 days. If you have a CURRENT guard card from any state in the U.S., a valid driver's license, and reliable transportation, you qualify. Conditions here are austere. No electricity or municipal water. Little to no cell service. Starlinks are in use, but limited.

We will be paying $600 for each 12-hour shift, plus $50 per diem and lodging. We can guarantee at least 3 shifts, but it will likely be 10 shifts per person over the allottted 10 days. That's $6,500 in 10 days paid NET15 (about 2 weeks after your 10 days are complete AND we receive your proper invoice! We are not compensating for travel time, mileage, or other vehicle expenses.

NOTE: You WILL need your guard card to access the area. All roads in have been closed to non-essential/non-emergency personnel. Be prepared to be stopped and present proper I.D.

FINALLY, you MUST be working under a NC-licensed guard company like ours. This is not a free-for-all. Expect regulators to be policing you.
