Alright, everyone, let’s talk punctuation and grammar!
It’s that time of year again—Christmas cards are starting to go out but this advice applies year-round! Whether you’re sending out save-the-dates, wedding invitations, thank-you notes, or all of the above, let’s make sure we get the details right.
First things first—never use an apostrophe to make a name plural. We aren’t showing ownership when addressing an envelope. Instead, let’s talk about how to properly make a last name plural.
If you’re one of the lucky families whose name just needs an -s added to the end, congrats! That’s the easy part. But if your last name ends in -s, stick with me.
For families whose names end in -s, -z, -ch, -sh, or -x, you add -es to make it plural. Or, you can always just sign your cards with “The Jones Family” to keep it simple.
Hope this helps as you start sending out your cards this holiday season, and for those of you diving into the wedding stationery journey!
