To start, the point I want to reiterate is;
I’m so happy it has happened instead of sad it has ended.
7 years ago I went to Frédéric Angers and said, “I think there is a big opportunity in promoting for a small race with a big race feel”. We sat down and figured out where that was, the price point/payout, and the location.
It was HUGE.
The instant response was incredible. We were elbow to elbow at Wagler Motorsports Park, about 3 rigs away from having to park them out on the county road.
There were people i wanted involved from the get go of this journey and companies i didn’t want to do it without. Many of them have been involved since day 1.
Steve Law, buddy as we talked over the weekend, there’s NO SHOT this idea gets off the ground without your support. From day 1, it was “whatever you need” and I’m forever grateful for our friendship.
Troy Mann, honestly before Final Call’s inception, i saw the Grizzly, Inc. Stickers on a bunch of Racecars from Terre Haute, but to say i knew you would be a lie. To this day since about day 1 of us sitting down and talking, our friendship has grown immensely. It was an honor to be able to fly the Grizzly banner and lord knows I’ll be in debt to you for as long as we are breathing!
Larry Mayes, what you’ve done for my son, myself, and Final Call is something I will forever appreciate. When i think of selfless, you are the person that comes to mind. I’m so proud of the business you’ve grown in the Whiteland community and was awesome to be able to grow our relationship over the years!
To everyone that supported this deal to the end, this deal was for YOU guys. I’ve said since day 1, I wanted to put on a good race for good people. I’ve made mistakes, I’ve learned HUGE lessons, but I’m also here to say i know it wasn’t perfect. I know i haven’t put 110% into Final Call the last couple years and i know that’s where the blame lies. Truth be told, my shop phone has been ringing off the hook and consuming me.
I will see y’all around! All of you have humbled me every time i have swung the gates open at an event. Whether it was 511 of you entering a few years ago at Kil-Kare Raceway, or the 113 of you the last ride at Muncie Dragway. THANK YOU.
For now, the photos I’ve attached seem like yesterday, a little boy that looks me in the eye these days is now the one earning trophies and having huge achievements in life. It’s time to go spend the few years i have left with him at home being the dad he needs.
We will see you at the racetrack somewhere at some point!
