Did you know that not all Halloween makeup is equal?
There are THREE types of Halloween makeup bases -
π§water-activated
π¦cream
π¨ grease
Depending on the type of look you are going for, picking the right Halloween makeup base is crucial!
π¦ Water-activated makeup gives you the most control so if you are planning to create a look with lots of details such as day of the dead, then look for a palette that says "water-activated". This makeup base also dries faster and stays on longer (even on sweaty or oily faces!) β¨ Side-note: our @woochiefx makeup kits are used in Halloween films!
π¦Cream-based makeup is a little more runny than water-based, and not as thick as grease-based. We found that cream-based makeup is great when you need to cover large surface areas in a single color. The trick to getting cream-based makeup to stay on:
βοΈPrep your face, i.e. apply primer, make sure face is not oily and freshly cleansed
βοΈApply cream-based makeup

Mattify with powder
If you would like a denser coverage, then reapply another layer and mattify it again. Continue until the desired outcome is achieved.
π¨ For grease-based palettes, we found that it works great for clown looks or messy looks, like the Joker π€‘ Also, if you like "cracked surfaces" or very opaque looks, grease-based makeup works wonders. However, grease-based makeup application can be very messy and hard to keep on. The trick to getting lasting greased-based makeup looks is to follow the steps above, just like cream-based makeup!
