Phelps Scarecrow Festival Festival Phelps Scarecrow Fest is an autumn event held in the downtown area of Phelps. Start the day with the family friendly "Tryathlon".

Sponsored by the PHELPS WOMEN"S CLUB, which supports the library and scholarships. The pictures are of the 2nd Fest, and this year for the 3rd Annual Fest we are going BIG, with lots of new activities, food and exhibits. Walk through the Scarecrows and decorated pumpkins, even bring your own to enter in the contests, including a Largest Pumpkin contest. Then browse the Craft Fair and fine Arts Dis

play. Eat a burger/brat, taffy apple, or try the free chili and deep fried pickles. Beer and soda will be available. Then try your hand at Pumpkin Chuckin', watch the Sea Planes land and take off the lake, wander through the Antique Tractors, watch the lawn mower races, have the kids try Trout Fishing and other games. A great drive to see the fall colors in Phelps and enjoy the day. Don't forget, the second Saturday in September is the big day. In addition, there will be a Pig Roast, Corn on the Cob, Hot Rods, chainsaw carving, and even more food stands. The leaves are starting to turn, so the leaf peeping should be gorgeous!!

Our Story

“Phelps Scarecrow Fest is an annual autumn event sponsored by the PHELPS WOMAN"S CLUB, which supports the library, scholarships and many community needs. In 2018 donations included: $3,000 Phelps Library, $1,000 Local Scholarships, $1,000 Headwaters Food Pantry (as well as 100 reusable shopping bags) , $1,500 Phelps Fire Department Off Road Rescue Vehicle, $500 Town Beautification, and $300 4th of July Celebration

AND...the Scarecrow Fest offers opportunity to other organizations, churches, and businesses of Phelps to do fund raising.

A “Fur Trader Encampment” will be a new addition to the 2019 Fest. This reenactment will be in the Pines by the Lakefront and will “knock your socks off” and teach the history of fur trading in Wisconsin.
