We are grateful to our partners at the City of Clermont Government and the Clermont Police Department (FL) for helping us re-route the Nightmare on the Clermont Trails 5K. The original race route was severely flooded and damaged by Hurricane Milton.
The new route will be just as exciting and scary 🤡

The running/biking/triathlon industry lost a legend today. John Boyle, 82, of Deland just left us. Those of you raced in the Central Florida area back in the 80's & 90's will remember John and his company, Alta Vista Sports. Although we were competitors, John and I worked together for a couple of decades, me helping him with his events, and John helping me with mine. We were both mentors of each other. His legacy events were the Winona Triathlon and Deleon Springs Half Marathon, along with dozens of other events throughout the region. John was also a superb runner and captured lots of masters and grand masters wins and records.

I am fortunate to have known and worked with John, and those memories will live on forever.

I miss you John!

* Important Event Cancellation Notice *

Just over a day ago Hurricane Milton crossed the Florida Peninsula resulting in a substantial impact on the Gulf Coast and all of Central Florida. The Clermont area was hit hard with high winds and more than 12 inches of rain in a 24-hour period causing flooding, power outages, and downed trees throughout the area including parts of the course.

Based on the significant local impact of the storm, Sommer Sports and the City of Clermont have mutually agreed that it is necessary to cancel the upcoming 2024 Great Floridian Multisport Festival scheduled for October 19-20, 2024. The event will not be rescheduled in 2024. All athletes will be contacted via email on Tuesday, October 15, with several future race options to select from.

We realize how important this race is to you and understand the disappointment that this may cause. The health and safety of our athletes, volunteers, staff and community is our utmost priority and will always be our top priority in any decision we make.

Thanks for your understanding during this challenging time.
