Yorktown Lighted Boat Parade Decorated motorboats, sailboats & workboats display their holiday spirit on the York River in competition for the coveted "Best of Show" pennant.

Doug and Pam Truston, owners of Wormley Creek Marina, founded the inaugural Yorktown Lighted Boat Parade in 1997. The Trustons’ enthusiasm inspired others to volunteer their talents and a committee was formed to organize the parades. Their vision created a truly unique evening for our community… bringing art, music, and boating to what has become Yorktown Celebrates Christmas weekend. Boaters come

forward with creativity on their vessels and brave whatever the weather to bring Christmas spirit to the waterfront each year. The beach bonfire site is “Norman Rockwell-ish” with caroling, hot cider, and children squealing if they see a lighted Santa, Frosty or Rudolph as the dazzling boats pass by with beautiful reflections twinkling on the river.

The Parade is a GO!! Hearing from the boaters that they are out putting the finishing touches on their boats. Yorktown was busy this morning with the Market on Mainstreet and the Spirit of the Holidays. Trollies start running at 5 and they are the best way to get on and off the beach area. Keep this map handy if your first choice of parking is full. Can't wait to see you there!!
