In the wedding industry, we always look forward to the beginning of the new year. We always assume it's our down time for rest and reflection from the previous wedding season. For me, this year was a little different. After getting the news about my best friend's cancer prognosis, it left me in a state of grief and loss. Losing a loved one can upend your day-to-day life as you know it, and can make even the smallest things seem insurmountable. My best friend's last wish was to be surrounded by her family and friends, and to have her vow renewal with the love of her life. In six days, we were able to plan her dream wedding and celebrate her life.

Please be patient with me as we spend her last few days together as a military family. I'm not okay, but I will be okay. I will be back in the office soon ♥️

Summer Update✨

I’ve been back in my hometown for the last few weeks, soaking up family and getting caught up on work.

This diner was my first job back when I was 15. It still serves the best pancakes and home fries with real VT maple syrup👏👏👏

Table Decor + Palette✨

Being in a castle that has a darker/moodier vibe, we really wanted an elegant design that would subtly brighten up the room. Anna with Fancy That Idaho wanted to choose a color palette that would compliment the space, season and florals but also not be seen at every wedding this season. Thueson Floral Co knocked it out of the park with the goldenrod and sage arrangements along with the modern dish ware from Flying China, table decor and linens from Forget Me Not Accents and Unveiled Design and Events.

You’ll hear us wedding planners say things like, “Your vendor team WILL make or break your event”. No truer words could be spoken about last night and the camaraderie displayed for the first Experience Wedding put on by Idaho Event Professionals.

In less than two months, an entire wedding was planned and executed - and at the highest quality that we strive for. We couldn’t have asked for a better vendor team and group of volunteers to pull this off!

The Balance Between Work & Motherhood✨

“There’s been an accident - we were life flighted to the hospital…”

Looking at my phone seeing the missed call and a text from my husband saying “911” was not something I ever expected to see the while setting up a wedding 3+ hours away.

I have never been one to have anxiety until I had children. My heart sank, I called him back immediately and screamed out loud when he told me what happened to our son. This was supposed to be a fun camping trip for my boys while I had to work. This was not supposed to happen. The worst part was, they were in a rural area just like I was where cell phone coverage was non-existent in most areas, therefore I got the call hours after the incident happened.

As a mom and a business owner, what do you do (besides almost collapse from shock)? The grooms mother told me that I needed to go and “We’ve got this” as I hug her in tears and fearing for my sons life, knowing I am so far away.

Fortunately, I had some moments to try and collect myself while waiting the results of a CT scan. My husband calls me 45 minutes later to tell me that the scans come back clean and that he will be okay.

“What do I do?!” - I asked my husband while barely being able to speak through the tears. “Baby you stay there and finish your job, we are okay and we will be going home to rest.”

The guilt with either decision literally weighed me down the entire day. Am I a bad mom because I did not rush out of there to make the 3+ hour drive with no cell service and wondering if my child was okay, or would I have been a bad business owner for leaving them high and dry after I had been paid to complete a job? Thankfully I was surrounded by the most amazing support for the entire day - these clients quickly became family for me.

My son is okay, and my clients were taken care of. But let me tell you this, being a small business owner and a parent is NOT for the faint of heart. Count your blessings and hug your family tight because you NEVER know what can happen in an instant♥️

Ashlee and I have connected this year, and she is a WONDERFUL planner! When Unveiled is unavailable, Iridescent Events is at the top of our list for referrals. This year has been very interesting, and overwhelming. Could not have said this better myself! Proud to be able to collaborate with like vendors in our areas. Community over competition y'all.

If you are planning a wedding right now, please take a deep breath and read this post with an open mind and heart. In my case, a very large belly which is creating space for a tiny human 😄 . Anyways ......

It might go without saying that this is the craziest season most of us have ever experienced. You’re watching it in real time!

I’m not going to tell you that if you are planning for 2022 you are already behind, because fear tactics aren’t our style and they don’t help- we offer solutions here.

What I want you to know is this: If you are planning a wedding, please know that the vendors you are communicating with are very likely either the owners of the business, or dedicated employees doing the job of more than one person. Either way, they know your wedding is more than just a paid gig. It’s a lifelong dream of self-employment, and an opportunity to thrive after a very dark year.

Life looks different from 2019 and we don’t know what the next few years ahead will be like. Have patience with your vendors as we all navigate the constant changes and adapt to the current climate.

The wedding industry is comprised of the most dedicated people who are visionaries in their craft and and experts in service. So much so, they plan their own life and time with family during the week day so they can mentally and physically show up for your wedding day.

So, if you start to feel a little anxious because emails seem to be moving slower than usual, or response times are delayed, take a deep breath, have grace and hold some faith that our industry is working as hard as we can to make every moment flawless. and if not, you need our Iridescent Events team to wrangle them back in!

We are so thankful for the clients who have trusted us for their big day. The guidance, dedication and showing up, is what you seek- and that’s what we continuously provide.
