Heart’s Content is a Wedding Planning and Design studio located in Hampton Roads, Virginia, and offers a variety of wedding planning, coordination, and design services. Although Heart’s Content is located in the beautiful state of Virginia, we are willing and ready to travel throughout the US and the world to help make your wedding day spectacular and truly memorable! I truly believe that every we

dding should be a matter of the heart! This means that every detail seen, every song sung, every moment experienced, and every element involved in your special day should tell a story about what makes you, and your love so special! This is why I abide by an “Open Heart Policy” with all of my couples. I want you to feel so comfortable with me as your planner and your friend that you are able to wear your heart on your sleeve, and tell me your likes, dislikes, quirks, joys, sorrows, and everything in between! It is in doing this that I am able to plan a wedding that is uniquely you, and truly matches your Heart’s Content! I’m so excited and honored that you took the time to check us out! My dearest Josh, my one and only, my honey bunny and sweetheart,

I’m so happy that, on this day, 10 years ago, I found the person that I wanted to annoy for the rest of my life. That’s right, no refunds! You’re stuck with me! May the odds be ever in your favor! 😂

In all seriousness, I’ve been really reflecting on these past ten years lately and everything we’ve been through, and I’m not going to lie, it hasn’t been easy. There have been a lot of core moments that have, unfortunately, been seeped in tragedy. From caring for my mom in her illness, to her passing, to “The Great Rat Sightings of 2015” (you know what I mean…that was atrocious), to the unexpected passing of close family members and friends, two house floods and being displaced from our home for more than half of a year, the sudden illness and loss of Nina, “Plumbing Gate” (which continues to be a struggle), James’ health journey, and the list goes on…somehow in each hard moment that comes our way, we manage to not only find sparks of joy and bursts of so much laughter through it all, but also use these moments as a way to strengthen our relationship.

Yes, life and marriage may be hard, AND I am certain beyond any reasonable doubt that you are my person, my soulmate, my everything, and the perfect life partner for me. There is no one I would rather go through life’s mountains and valleys with. I’m grateful for every second of life by your side, and without hesitation, will weather every adventure life presents as long as you are there. You are my WHY. You are my everything.

Today’s our 10-year Biz-a-versary!! Yes, that’s right!! Heart’s Content is TEN YEARS OLD!!

Ten years ago, during a very hard season for me and my family, I made a choice to trust God with all I had and everything I am, and I never looked back. Heart’s Content has truly been the blessing the keeps on giving. Not only has it given me hope, but it’s opened my eyes to great possibilities in my life. Not only has it given me companionship, but it’s become a vehicle to strengthen my marriage, it encouraged my friendships, it gathered a team of individuals who are just as passionate about our heart and vision as I am, and brought so many incredible couples our way that we have had the absolute honor of serving. Not only has it given me so many great memories, but it has allowed me to opportunity to do what I love WHILE loving on my family that much more. This gift of a business has given me so much, and my heart is above and beyond full.

So cheers to 10 years! Cheers to every single couple that chose us and even considered us to serve them on their special day. Cheers to every single vendor we’ve been blessed to make great memories with, and the friendships we’ve formed in the process. Today is my birthday!!

It’s easy to make these posts cliche and to make cute little lists about what I might tell my younger self, or lessons I’ve learned. Don’t get me wrong…I’d have so much to say. But if this year has taught me anything, it’s taught me to be grateful in all things. Through ups and downs, through 2 floods that displaced us from our home, through many hospital visits and health scares with James, through time learning growing and falling in love and choosing love with Josh over and over again, through the tragic loss of our sweet Nina girl, through many moments of hustle, and even more moments of joy and growth in my business…man…all I can say is I’m grateful to be here.

I think the thing I’m most grateful for is CONNECTION. The connection I’ve felt with my husband, Josh, as we’ve navigated hills and valleys in our home and even in business. I truly couldn’t do this life without him, and he truly is my heart, my emotional anchor, my best friend. The connection I’ve felt with James and Nora—I know I’m their mom, but I really feel like these are the two most amazing kids alive, even when they are testing my patience 😂. I know they will be world changers someday—I feel that in my gut. Can’t wait to sit on the sidelines to watch it unfold. The connection I feel with my family and friends—we are small but mighty and God has seen us through so much, and yet we are still here, pursuing life, together. The connection I have with the HCE team, in which, every day, I’m reminded how truly BLESSED I am to have team members that I can not only call friends, but who are just as passionate about our purpose and the pursuit of this BIG dream. The connection with our couples—getting to be a party of their day, watching them share vows, profess their love, and getting to witness the simple joys in between…truly makes all the long nights, the hustle, and all of it so worth it.

I really don’t know what I did to deserve this life, but I am grateful to God every day that I am here. Happy 33 to me 💗

Being Ravenn’s friend has been one of the absolute joys of my life, and on this day, nothing made me happier than to see her marry the love of her life, Dan!

I have heard countless stories from brides about why they chose their bridesmaids. Sweet stories from childhood, mending broken hearts, sister bonds stronger than steel, and many more!

Stories like our bride Charay, who was with her best friend getting donuts at Krispy Kreme and just happened to pass Langston, her now-husband, and his dad on the street when Langston stopped in his tracks and told her “You’re so beautiful!” Her best friend was standing with her then and stood with her on her wedding day. 😭

I love hearing these stories because it gives meaning to the reason those individuals are standing with that bride on their special day. You know I love giving things meaning! 💞

And because you know I also love details, I am committed to incorporating special touches for the bridesmaids. Even the smallest things like learning each wedding party member’s names makes a huge difference. It sends a message I love to sing to the rooftops: your presence matters!!

In a recent conversation with Josh...

Me: What is one thing you could tell your “soon-to-be-a-new-dad” self six years ago?

Josh: Learn to be patient.

I think it’s safe to say that when we took this first photo, we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. But 6+ years later, these simple words couldn’t be more true. And in my eyes, through the ups and downs and loopty loops of parenting, he’s been an anchor of patience, and love, and kindness, and determination, and everything in between. For all of that, and because of all that you are, we celebrate you on this day and always. Thank you for being the best YOU, just for us. We love you, Josh. Happy Father’s Day 💗💗💗

Today is and the only thing sweeter are these stacks of donut favors wrapped in satin ribbon and a gold foil-pressed favor tag from Langston and Charay’s wedding last October!!! What’s so cute is they met near Krispy Kreme in DC, after years of riding the same metro to work and working just blocks from one another. Their love story really took the saying “everything in its perfect timing” to a whole new meaning! We were so honored to be a part of their day, and so excited that they shared this sweet part of their love story with all their guests!!

We love our couples so very much, and when COVID-19 hit, we did our best to pivot and find some special ways to make our couples feel loved and served and that their needs were met, even during such a difficult time. Charay and Langston’s wedding was at the pinnacle of all of it! From rescheduling, planning their elopement, finding a new venue one month from the wedding day, and needing to hire a couple new vendors so close to the wedding day, this couple trusted us and our ability to navigate this roller coaster of a season, and I’d say their love and joy radiated just as beautifully as their wedding day!! We are so grateful for their trust, their ability to go with the flow, their friendship, and their very kind words about what we do!!•

“We must say, that we unequivocally had the best wedding planner, Adrienne Rolon and her team Heart’s Content Events and Design. From the very first meeting, Adrienne listened to our vision for our dream wedding and was patient as we navigated the trials and tribulations of COVID-19. She effortlessly planned a secret elopement wedding; while still ensuring our bigger bash would exceed our expectations and go off without any hitches. Two weeks before the big wedding date, we had to change our venue (covid restrictions) and she was able to secure a beautiful location that we loved at first sight. From finding and working with vendors, to getting us extended checkouts (I’m talking 4:30pm) at our hotels, her spirit and positive attitude radiated and shined through in her work. In seasons like these we are so grateful for moments of downtime, no matter how short or long! This week just so happens to be Spring Break for James and Nora’s birthday week, and while we are still hustling and making wedding dreams happen, we are also taking some time for some much needed self care and spending precious time with family! After all, wedding planners are people too, and over the years I’ve learned just how important it is to take good care of myself so my cup can be filled to take care of our beautiful couples!!

Social media sucks...

I’m just kidding but I’m glad I got your attention 😉 .

In all truthfulness, I struggle with that area of my business. Showing up makes your feel vulnerable, which can be scary. On top of that, it can feel intimidating seeing everyone else’s perfect posts, stories, reels, etc and it’s so easy to feel like an imposter in this space. But it’s also just as easy to shift that mindset to not only get more eyes on what you do, but build a community of people without being inauthentic or salesy.

I sought my sights on that shift about a year ago when I set up a discovery call with my incredible, so very smart, and talented social media manager, Patrice or ! In one year she’s helped me build strategies to encourage me to show up, start conversations, and build relationships, all in a way that works uniquely for me, my business, and my family. And even more than that, as she pushed me, never tolerated allll my excuses 😬, and supported my very lofty goals, she also become an incredibly dear friend! 💗

but even more than that, it’s the meaning behind them that make the details so beautiful!

We love listening intently to a couple’s love story and designing a wedding experience that truly reflects who they are. This way when that first guest walks in the ceremony or reception space they say, “Oh yah...this is [insert beautiful couple’s names]’s wedding,” and I feel like an honored guest here. To take it a step further, designing in this way helps the couple to feel loved and celebrated to the fullest extent, which is one of the things we value to our core.

Today marks 8 years of marriage and I love this man more and more and MORE each day!!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This year has tested us in so many ways. No one wrote a book on how to love your spouse well during a pandemic...no one told us how hard balancing our marriage while raising kids during a health crisis would be. We made mistakes, we tried new things, we pivoted...and we did our best to love each other through all of it!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our mantra for our marriage is a little unorthodox. It’s “We struggle. We adapt. We grow.” It comes with the acknowledgment that marriage is not easy, that life has constant twists and turns, and as we constantly choose each other through these aches and pains we grow exponentially. I am always so grateful for the opportunity to grow with you...learn with you...even make mistakes with you. It makes me feel alive, even when it’s hard. It makes me feel loved even when I feel unloveable. It makes me feel hope and joy when the world around us has none. Happy Anniversary Josh. I love you with everything I am and everything I’ll grow to be. 💗
