Weariness Comes For Us All
No one, not even those who follow Christ, is immune to the weighty seasons life burdens us with. While at the moment they can overwhelm us, 2 Corinthians refers to these seasons as "light and momentary afflictions". Viewing life through the lens of what we have to look forward to gains us a heavenly perspective. The valleys prepare us, refine us, and are the necessary fuel we need to participate in the work God is doing here on earth.
Encountering this kind of weariness, the kind that puts an ache in our bones, leads us to a crossroads. This is where we choose to continue down this path on our own, on what strength we have left, or come to Jesus. If you're like me, you hold on to the bitter end, like a baby at the dinner table who's skipped their nap. Nodding off and fighting with every part of their being to stay awake, all the while knowing if they just gave in they'd find the rest they need to fight another day. Jesus offers this kind of rest, to everyone. "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
