Roxboro Police Investigating a Homicide
**IMMEDIATE RELEASE**
ROXBORO POLICE SEARCHING FOR MURDER SUSPECT
A shooting last weekend in Roxboro is now a homicide investigation. Roxboro Police are searching for, Terrel Wiley, 29, of Roxboro in connection with the shooting death of 23-year-old Daquan Harris. Police responded to a reported shooting at 326 Owens Street in Roxboro on July 27th around midnight to find Harris with a gunshot wound to the neck. According to investigators, witness claim the men’s girlfriends were arguing. Concerned police may respond for the argument, Harris tried to calm the situation asking Wiley’s girlfriend to leave. Witnesses say that is when Wiley displayed a handgun and shot Harris in the neck. According to authorities, Harris died Thursday at Duke from his injuries.
Roxboro Police Chief David Hess said, “As a father of three sons my heart is broken for the Harris family. The blatant disregard for life that Terrel showed that night should concern everyone; it does me. We need the public's help in getting Terrel in custody before someone else potentially gets hurt.” The next day after the shooting, investigators arrested Wiley’s girlfriend, Ashley Richardson, 29, of Roxboro, for Accessory after the Fact. According to investigators, Ashley was allegedly seen driving Wiley from the crime scene after the shooting.
“We implore Terrel’s family to turn him in to authorities. Two families are forever changed because of Daquan’s death. It is heartwrenching knowing he tried to do the right thing and it cost him his life. Both families need closure and that happens when Terrel is in custody.” Chief Hess commented. Richardson remains in the custody of the Person County Sheriff under a $100,000 secured bond. Police have issued arrest warrants for Terrel Wiley for murder. Chief Hess said because of the nature of the crime and charge, Wiley is considered armed and dangerous.
