Happy New Year! 🎉 we had an incredible 2023 and we are so looking forward to what 2024 will bring.

As we start the new year we want to learn more about our craft and the medium with which we create our art. Starting with flowers of the month and little history about them!

January’s flower is the Carnation. It was named from the Greek words dios (devine) and anthos (flowers). Early on it was subjected to breeding programs that created the variety of colors that we still see and use today.

In 1851 Joseph Brock wrote in his book, The Flower Garden, that “there is no flower more desirable in a flower garden than the Carnation. A well grown superior variety, cannot be surpassed, in elegance, beauty, or order by any other flower…”

Chilean Coral Charm Peony. It’s Peony season in Chili! Now Thru early January. Sold 50 stems in 24 hours last week. I did get to take one home though, and here she is~9 days old and still blooming strong. Delicate fragrance. Stems will be getting fresh Peony from this farm each week while the last.Arrival is usually on Tuesday’s. C can’t wait to see what colors I get next week🌸

Stems is so lucky to have some very special friends who found their green thumbs and are growing wonderful cut flowers and veggies! A Covid change of careers for these young farmers. Excited to be able to source from them and watch them continue to grow. 🌸 And, even better part is, they are just ten minutes from my studio. Can’t get much more local than that!

I have so been enjoying picking out freshly cut Colorado farm flowers each week to share with my Evergreen folk. Farms from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins. All meet each week to make it easy for us to select, support and share.

I was lucky to help make this little peanut‘s day today….She turned 4 !!🎈.Her Dad sent her flowers 💐 🌸 🌺 A big bouquet for her special day. Good job Dad. I think she liked it.
