Hi friends, this is kind of a hard post to write today. Especially from a guy who 98% of the time uses social media solely for spreading silly funny stuff. But here is today’s reality.

Your local record store really needs your help. We have always operated on a very slim and tight margin - which has usually been ok - although sometimes it gets a little scary.

We don’t need fancy things. I mean - most of you have seen my old Nissan with the broken door handle - but don’t worry I’ve fixed the headlight lol.

Each week we just need to be able to pay the bills, buy some new stock, rinse and repeat. We have had big bright moments of success since we’ve opened, but overall 2024 sales have been slow to the point where now we are having a very tough time surviving.

So here is our big ask to the amazing community that has lovingly embraced us: if you’re in the position to come shop - please do.

We really need you.

We are putting out a bunch of great stuff each day of the week.

*Take a chance on some used records you think look interesting. They’re clean and ready for new homes. Try out something you’ve never heard - it’s fun!

Thank you to Porter County Parks and Recreation for providing this important information about fawns. ❤️

As spring blooms and summer approaches, we’ll be seeing more deer out and about. Not only is this important for road safety, but it’s important to know that does (female deer) will be having their fawns. Deer give birth to their fawns between April and July (mostly in June). Since young fawns can’t keep up with their mothers, does hide them during the day and only return to nurse them around dusk and dawn. This practice protects the fawns from predators.

Unfortunately, many people don’t know this and assume that a lone fawn has been orphaned or abandoned. A mother doe may leave her fawn in the forest underbrush, under bushes, or even a backyard or garden. This is often how people come across fawns. Most of the time, the best thing to do is to leave them alone. A fawn’s instincts tell it to freeze in place if it senses a predator (or you), so a fawn laying still isn’t a sign that it needs help. Fawns are kidnapped every year because well-meaning Samaritans mistakenly think they need help. Wildlife rehabilitation centers do a great job of caring for wildlife, but no one can care for a fawn better than its own mother.
