Last weekend, Livnonbeats had the privilege of providing the sound system for the Negro Election Day celebration at Salem Willows in Salem, Massachusetts. The event was a resounding success, featuring a vibrant day of music, poetry, vendors, barbecuing, and family fun. We’re excited to share some photos captured by our dedicated photographer and DJ, Jevon Howe, as well as images from other attendees who enjoyed the festivities.

Amazing time once again this year!

We are tired and grateful tonight, what a day. THANK YOU to the performers, speakers, artists, DJs, sponsors, community partners, vendors, and especially today, our VOLUNTEERS. We are an all-volunteer group and the Malden Juneteenth Freedom Celebration is always the culmination of months of planning and work behind the scenes, and then it takes a much larger village of volunteers to pull it off on the day of. So many things go just right, and we do our absolute best to persevere and collaborate through the hiccups that challenge us.

What makes it all worth it is YOU- all the folks who come out, the connections made, the learning and fun had, the community built and bread broken. Thank you for joining us to create belonging and celebrate liberation!! We’ll share more photos soon, but for now, goodnight and-

Without further ado…we are so excited to introduce the performing arts program for the 7th Annual Malden Juneteenth’s Freedom Celebration:

Writer Terry Carter is back with us this year, to deliver both original poems and the 2024 keynote address!! Bio below


Terry E. Carter is a gifted writer and widely-respected speaker. Terry is also a classically-trained poet whose literary influences range from Shakespeare to the Harlem Renaissance. Terry is a husband, a father, an ordained Deacon and an Arts Minister. He enjoys taking contemporary life and faith experiences and translating them into word pictures that engage people in a truly unique way. His insightful lyricism cuts directly into the heart of problems of spirituality, race, culture, and social justice. He has published six volumes of inspired poetry, including his most recent work, Brown Skin and the Brilliant Sun: A Poet’s Opus. Terry is a cancer-survivor and has an amazing testimony about his family’s many trials with that dreaded disease. He finished serving a two-year appointment as Medford, MA’s inaugural Poet Laureate in July of 2023.

Terry is married to Terésa J. Carter, and the Randolph, MA couple has an adult daughter, Maya N. Carter, currently pursuing a theater career in Brooklyn, NYC.

We want to ensure that we have everything in place to deliver unforgettable events but we need your help to find the ideal spot. Whether it's a spacious hall, an outdoor venue, backyard or a hidden gem in the city, we're open to suggestions!
