Save The Dates Q&As

Q: Do I really need to send one?
A: Sending a Save The Date is not mandatory, however, it is highly recommended especially if you’re planning a destination wedding. It’s also a fun way to give your guests preliminary information about the wedding.

Q: When do we send them?
A: A general rule of thumb is four to six months, or even earlier if you’re planning a designation wedding that may require more extensive travel arrangements (passport, visa, etc…)

Q: Who should receive one?
A: Please, we can’t stress this enough…. Don’t make the save-the-date any more public beyond your actual guest list. There is no a “maybe list”. They are either invited or not!

Q: Can we send them via email?
A: Absolutely, just be aware the possibility of that e-card being sent to a spam/junk folder instead of their inbox. It may be a good idea to follow up to ensure delivery.

Q: What information should we include?
A: Keep it simple - wedding date, location (city and state and for destinations wedding, country and city), and your wedding website URL where your guests can find all sorts of additional information.

Q: We want to skip engagement photos, do we need to have our engagement photos in our save-the-date?
A: Again, it’s’ not mandatory, but highly recommended. Just recently, one of our bride and groom’s seven year old daughter drew and designed a picture of them getting married and they used it as their save-the-date. It was super cute. We’ve had brides who wanted their save-the-dates to tie in with their overall design of their invitation and for a destination wedding, why not use a silhouette of the venue especially if you’re getting married at a vineyard in Italy. The possibilities are endless. But honestly having photos to accentuate your stationery will excite and delight family and friends.

On another note, we need to talk why you want to skip your engagement photos!
