Tomorrow - Thursday - June 13 I will be at the Holgate Community Library providing a program on Ellis Island. Ellis Island was the key gateway for immigration into the United States at the turn of the century with roughly 40% of today’s population having at least one ancestor in their family tree passing through the island. With calls for immigration reform, stricter policies at the U.S. and Mexico border and tough conversations about illegal migration this FREE program is an excellent way to look back on U.S. immigration history, how it was then, what happened, and how it changed. Period artifacts from Northwest Ohio immigrants, amazing photos from Ellis Island and more will help bring this fascinating place back to life as we ponder our immigrant ancestors. Program is FREE. 7pm. seating first-come-first served*** Appropriate for all ages.
