Let’s talk DIYs—We love a good DIY and it’s def the way to go for a couple on a budget, but we recommend that you do not DIY everything.
Here’s a few tips:
▫️To DIY everything puts unnecessary stress on you and your helpers.
▫️It’s good to identify some aspects that would be too difficult or require lots of time/effort to DIY (for example: food). Get a caterer and DIY other aspects for your event.
▫️Certain DIYs can be handled well in advance (for example: wedding stationary, favors, etc.) or you can make at home.
▫️Things such as food, flowers, or even photography might best be handled by professionals.

At our first initial meeting, Shannon told us there were going to be 16 bridesmaids. We immediately knew this wedding was going to be one fun party, and that’s exactly what it was!
We started planning Shannon and Andrew’s wedding in 2019, and we worked together through many changes. Even when they had to postpone the wedding (because COVID), this couple had the best attitude and kept the same positive energy the entire way.
Fun fact—Andrew was the one who did the initial walk-through at the venue (Kimpton) and reported back to Shannon with all of his notes. Talk about teamwork! 👏🏽
Their November wedding day was incredible and so thought out—from a special donation in place of favors to a live painter.
We couldn’t be more excited to share these beautiful pictures with everyone. Check the link in our bio now! ❤️

One of my favorite tips for a successful wedding—Keep your guests entertained!
Your overall wedding will be remembered in terms of how it made your guests feel.
To provide a good time for all of your guests, think of engaging entertainment away from the dance floor. This provides opportunities for your guests to interact with each other.
You can incorporate a variety of games or events during your reception. Some fun (& unique) ideas:
▫️Photobooth 📸
▫️Live painter 👩🏾🎨
▫️Custom ice luge 🧊
▫️Cigar bar 💨
▫️Adult bounce house ✨
▫️Aerialist 🤸🏼
▫️Carousel 🎠
▫️Palm reader 🔮
▫️Yard games 🏏
▫️Fire pit for s’mores 🔥
▫️Team mascot appearance 🐻

Let’s talk centerpieces—Centerpieces are beautiful floral statements that will draw your guests’ eyes around the entire venue. Here are a few tips concerning centerpieces:
▫️Your centerpieces do not have to match. Incorporate similar colors, styles, and elements without matching exactly—you’ll still create that wow factor.
▫️Mixing short and tall centerpieces will help make any space feel vibrant and full.
▫️For tall centerpieces, the added height helps make the venue more elegant and the ceiling appears higher.
▫️Short centerpieces are great for accommodating conversation among guests.

Take us back to October 16th! Reliving Danni and Eric’s wedding through these pictures is pure bliss.
We started working with this fun-loving and kindhearted couple in 2019. Danni and Eric’s huge personalities truly set the tone for their wedding day, which included a gorgeous white flower wall, a hit playlist from the 2000s and a custom ice luge.
Danni’s twin sister, dad and mom also played big parts in this wedding day, making it truly a family affair.
Enough talking! Go and check out this magical October day now. Link in bio. 🤍

A southern tradition dating back to Victorian time—Erin and Chris incorporated a “cake pull” with their wedding cake.
This New Orleans wedding tradition is super unique. After a count of three, the bridesmaids or women close to the couple choose a ribbon then pull it, exposing a charm. The charm is meant to signify the puller’s future. For example, a four-leaf clover signifies good luck and a telephone means good news.

Let’s talk about some alone time—We encourage our couples on their wedding day to take a few minutes to be alone, just the two of you.
A few ways and times for the newlyweds to soak in the first few special moments as husband and wife include:
▫️Planning an intimate first look
▫️On the drive to the reception hall
▫️Following the ceremony
▫️In a private room at the venue moments before being announced into the reception
Before you know it, you’ll be hitting the dance floor and spending the rest of the wedding surrounded by love, family and friends, having the best day ever. ♥️

Happy Monday! Why not start the week with some good vibes? Tell me one thing you’re proud of, one fun thing you’re doing soon or something that simply makes you smile.
I’ll start—One fun thing I am doing soon is spending quality family time with my parents in the Dominican Republic and in-laws in Delaware for the holidays. I love seeing them play and bond with the kids. With everything going, I am so grateful for all this time together. 😊

Fun fact—Our couple Mya and John named their signature mimosa “Fubulicious” after Fubu, their Pomeranian. He was also the ring bearer. 🐾
01/12/2021
Let’s talk preparing for rejection—About 10 to 20% of the people you invite won’t attend your wedding. This usually depends on:
▫️the location of your event (destination weddings are harder to attend)
▫️how many out-of-towners are on the guest list
▫️the date and timing of the event (some guests may have annual holiday plans or cannot get time off)

It’s wedding week! I always look forward to these busy few days before a wedding — finalizing all details and checking each and every box.
It’s such a rush feeling mixed with excitement and anticipation. There’s truly nothing like seeing all of the extensive planning come to life. Can’t wait to see my couple and share details this weekend!

We still remember this day so vividly. It started at 4:00 a.m. Our couple wanted to make use of their entire day to celebrate their love with friends and family. We were right on board and wanted to make their dreams come true.
The wedding day consisted of a ceremony, second line parade, receiving line cake reception, luncheon, evening dinner reception and an epic after party! We would hands down do this day all over again :)
Happy anniversary, Erin and Chris! 🤍 Check out their wedding day linked in our bio.

Hey weekend, is that you peaking around the corner?! 😌

When it comes to weddings, can you guess which month should be avoided for floral purchases?
Yup, it’s February!
▫️Limited availability! There are fewer flowers available during this season.
▫️Flower prices are at an annual high during this month due to Valentines Day.

These blooming details 😍 It was so much fun planning this garden soirée for Vee’s 1st birthday! 🌸

I’m so glad you’re here! For those who don’t know me that well…
▫️My name is Ann. I own AWE Planning. I am married with two kids—Roman is 3 and Vera is turning 1 next week!
▫️I met my husband and best friend Wil in college at Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte, NC. After graduating, we moved to NYC for 10 years, and full circle, we’ve been back in Charlotte for over 3 years now.
▫️I love all things FOOD. I would totally be a food/restaurant critic if I wasn’t obsessed with planning weddings and events.
▫️My favorite places I’ve traveled to… That’s a tie between Venice and Maldives. Venice has the best wine and food. Maldives has the softest sand and most stunning beach.
▫️I love fashion. It’s an extension of my personality. I initially moved to NYC for fashion, working at Marie Claire, Michael Kors and a few PR companies in between.
▫️I can’t live without coffee! A few cups throughout the day get me going. ☕️
▫️I am a true Virgo and my enneagram numbers are 3 and 1.
▫️My favorite TV show is Money Heist on Netflix—a must-watch if you haven’t seen it!
▫️One of my favorite things about weddings is the first few moments after the ceremony. This is when the couple gets to hug, laugh and cry with their closest friends and family. It’s emotional and so very special!
Do we have anything in common?! I’d love to get to know YOU better. Share something about yourself below! 😊
