Hey there! I’m Dee, the face behind the camera of Deme Star Photography. Growing up, I loved going through the pictures in photo albums when we visited family. We moved around a lot (Go NAVY!) so holidays were always super special because not only did I get to see my family and flip through the pages of our family memories, we always made more. The laughter and togetherness always stayed with me.
For a few years, I worked in retail photography. First as a studio photographer, but ending as a district manager with 7 stores under my watch. No matter the location, I always made sure customer satisfaction was a top priority! I took a break from photography for a while and after receiving the gift of the most AMAZING kid ever (maybe I’m biased, maybe I’m not), remembered that warm, fuzzy feeling I get when the genuine moments are in front of my lens. That’s the feeling I strive to give.
I want you to see yourself in all the sweet embraces, the sincere looks of love, and the belly shaking laughter. Most importantly, I want your photo shoot to be fun. Having your picture taken should be an easy task that includes jokes, funny faces, and be an overall good time. You should feel like you’re photographer is a close friend catching you and your loved ones enjoying life with each other. I thrive on creating that atmosphere. In fact, it’s my favorite way to get the images that really show your spark! Not only do I want to make great images with you, I want you to LOVE them and feel that they truly reflect who you are.
When I’m not at a shoot (or editing images and responding to emails), I’m fulfilling my momma duties to a super smart, exciting pre-teen who loves science and FortNite as well as a sassy, fluffy pup. You can also find me at the beach embracing the sun, admiring the stars on clear nights, surfing through comic bins, or watching the latest Disney/Pixar (yes, I cry at EVERY ONE), Star Wars or Marvel movie. These and my love of great coffee, dance fitness (Zumba or Mixxed Fit anyone?), sarcasm, and puns keeps me young.
