Sophmore Tyler Newlon finishes 6th
Junior Kipp Freed finishes 6th via Inj. Default

Overall Team Finish: 7th

For having 6 out of 7 first time qualifiers(no seniors) these young men had a phenomenal year. This Group showed how hard they have been working and proved they belong at the highest level.

We also want to congratulate EVERY wrestler on the WHS 23/24 team for all their hard work and contribution in the practice room.

One thing is certain for Williamstown Wrestling.
WE WILL BE BACK.

Thad Trent(Junior) loses a heart breaker 8-7. Tyler Newlon(Sophmore) and Kipp Freed(Junior) BOTH advance in the blood round to lock in a guaranteed podium spot. They will both wrestle this morning in the Consi-semis to determine if they wrestle for 3rd or 5th. Congratulations and good luck to the remaining 2 wrestlers!

Tyler Newlon, Kip Freed, Thad Trent, and Rex anderson all Advance to the quarter finals at 1130 AM. Aiden Meeks, Wesley freed and Dylan Pucella are in consolation bracket looking to battle back!

This past weekend the Jacket wrestlers competed at the A/AA Region IV championship. The scrappers finished 3rd out of 16 overall as a team. We qualified 7 wrestlers to the State Tournament for the first time in 10 years! In total, we have 11 out of 13 wrestlers placing in the top 6. Here is a list of individual placers…

Tonight is the night! The #4 ranked Jacket wrestlers are ready to defend their home hive while taking on Roane Co, Calhoun Co and St. Mary’s. All four schools have a deep wrestling history. This will be a battle to make the LKC dual championship. We will also recognize our seniors before the match. Wrestling starts at 6pm at WHS. Pack the gym and give these wrestlers the support they deserve in what will probably be our only home match! 💪🤼‍♂️🧷

Unfortunately due to weather and team cancellations, we had to cancel the Bob Zide Rumble for tomorrow. The pancake breakfast at the cafeteria is also canceled. Some things are just out of our control.

No worries though. The Jacket wrestlers are back in action Tuesday at home! This will be an LKC quad with WHS, Roane Co, Calhoun Co, and St. Mary’s. The winner of the quad will qualify for the LKC Dual Championship. Wrestling starts at 6pm. See you there 💪🤼🧷

We host our annual Bob Zide Rumble this Saturday at WHS. Wrestling will begin at 10am, and will take place in both gyms on 5 total mats. There will be a total of 21 teams attending (weather permitting). There will be TOUGH competition from all 3 classes represented.

Not only are our Jackets wrestling at home, but we will be having a pancake breakfast as well! This breakfast is provided by the Sons of the American Legion. It will take place in the cafeteria at WHS from 8-10am. Tickets are $10 and include pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee/juice/milk.

No better way to start your Saturday morning than with pancakes and wrestling. Not to mention supporting your community! 🤼‍♂️💪🧷

It was a Great day of wrestling for the Yellowjackets even though a few starters were out of the lineup. Kip Freed also becomes the First champion for Williamstown in 4 years 🥇

Last week we wrestled for three days straight! Wednesday night we wrestled a dual at Point Pleasant against Ravenwood, Winfield, and Point Pleasant. Since we beat Winfield and Ravenswood, your favorite Jackets Wrestling team qualified for the A/AA State Dual Championship! This is the first time in school history!!! Proud is an understatement! So far this season we’ve been doing great and we’re only going up from here! Make sure to save the date for the State Duals and come watch the Jackets in action!
