Happy Retirement! David Roos began teaching Spanish at the Activity Center in 1999 when the facility first opened, partnering with the Greater Lakeway Residents Association (GLRA). Although the GLRA has since dissolved, the Activity Center continued offering his free classes as a valued membership perk.

Last summer, David announced his plans to retire from teaching to pursue more traveling. In his honor, staff and students organized a surprise birthday and farewell party last week. The Mayor also attended to personally thank David for his many years of dedicated volunteerism.

To carry on his legacy, the group plans to host weekly membership meetings where participants can practice speaking Spanish and keep their language skills sharp. While David has retired from lesson planning, he hopes to visit whenever he can!
