Are you gonna sip, serve, or SPiLL?

Inspired by gay tea dances of the 1950s, SPiLL is a 21+ social with one goal: the creation of a space to do q***r joy free from judgment.

West Art provides the space (2nd floor Sanctuary!) while we provide the sound and a few games for folks looking to form connections over dice, cards, and anything in-between! You provide the joy, be it parallel to or with others!
Not sure what you can bring? Here are some ideas: zine/craft/art supplies + works-in-progress, kandi materials, handheld game systems, board/card/roleplaying games, puzzles, coloring books, sudoku or other logic puzzles, etc.

We’ll play canned tunes 6-8 and I'll DJ 8ish - 9PM playing an eclectic mix of pride hits, dance pop, disco and other upbeat/chill vibes at a level that allows folks to chat, share skills, or vibe!

This is a BYO event, so come with your photo ID and whatever tasty beverages you have in mind. Feel free to share or simply get your personal sip on. We'll have hot water and basic teas on hand for folks lookin' for a hot-up.
Guests are welcome to bring snacks to share; please label ingredients for our friends with allergies.

Shadowland is Lancaster’s monthly dark alternative dance ritual - a place for all the night’s creatures to gather and experience the euphoria only foggy dance floors provide. We are central PA’s longest-running dark alternative dance party playing a diverse mix of dark genres to delight your biggest erogenous organ: that weird pink thing between your ears.

In Jan, Feb, and March 2025, Zoetropolis Cinema Stillhouse invites us to turn their theatre into our new home! Join me, a rotation of guest DJs new and familiar, and dancers NEBULA and ATE for the first quarter of 2025.

PLEASE NOTE WE ARE CHANGING OUR HOURS TO 8 PM - 12 AM. Zoetropolis provides amenities we feel outweigh any drawbacks of this change: two bars, outdoor space for warmer months, food tailored to a variety of diets, NA beverage options, $5 parking ~one block away, greater than two toilets, spots to escape to that are Less Loud for our chatty cats, and generally Solid Vibes ™.

ALL DATES 21+, 8 PM-12AM, $10. Venue is accessible. Event uses smoke machines.

SPiLL is coming up this Tuesday, 11/19!! SPiLL is special to me because it's less about having a party and more about sharing space with your lgbtqia+ neighbors. Now more than ever, q***r joy and community are resistance; if you are feeling the need to be around folks without the pressure to party a certain way, SPiLL was made with you in mind.

(that said, if we decide a little cathartic dancing is in order, we can do that, too!)

We've got space, music, games, tea, and occasionally 1 very royal cat. 21+, BYO if you're feeling like a beverage. We encourage bringing snacks with labeled instructions or any other shareables.

SPiLL is on the second floor of West Art , 816 Buchanan Ave. Lancaster, PA. 6-9 PM EST. Entrance is $7; we will not turn anyone away for lack of funds.

Also, here's an update on 10/30. HUGE thanks to Susquehanna River Creative Conspiracy's Chris and TJ for helping me pivot Devil's Night to a new spot and for getting the folks from DiFrancesco Meadery in the loop for folks' drinkin' desires. And thanks to Dan for all his help getting me connected with TJ on such short notice.

On Wednesday, we (Stygian, Nebula, and Ate) reached out to the owners and creative director of Little Mutants and requested an all-hands meeting regarding interpersonal and operational choices which hurt or alienated staff, talent, and attendees over the past 4+ months. We requested an invitation to meet also be extended to a number of former staff, investors, talent, and customers whose personal accounts we’ve collected so they could be heard as well.

This was an attempted call-in and we hoped we would at least be given the courtesy of a face-to-face meeting. Instead, the creative director said they felt it would be “disrespectful to re-open any emotional wounds relating to operations given the circumstances.”

We believe it is just as - if not more disrespectful - for them and one of the owners to repeatedly dodge or reject opportunities to address issues ranging from poor communication to failure to implement basic harm reduction/safety policies to alleged financial mismanagement to outright lying to our and our colleagues’ faces about all of the above.

We believe it is more disrespectful to repeatedly center themselves when confronted.

We believe it is more disrespectful to say they’d be re-opening wounds they only acknowledge when convenient for them.

We believe their and one of the owners’ behavior is more disrespectful than accountability and change could ever be, and their refusal of both says everything.

We are choosing to leave Little Mutants effective immediately. STYGIAN will likewise be pulling Shadowland and the 10/30 Tassel/Russian White/La Cabra show. We’re heartbroken to see a space we felt was safe be bled dry by others’ poor choices and will miss the chaotic joy RE/POSE represented to us.

If you have any questions, please reach out. If you can think of a q***r-affirming space you think can handle us at our most blue bathroom - especially weekly - we’re all ears.
