Lifestyle & documentary photographer located in Danville, KY But the more I've thought about it, that's not all of it. But then something happened.

I've been doing a lot of reflecting the last few months, about why I became a photographer, and why I feel so passionate about it. At first, I had the somewhat generic response that most mom photographers have... to record my kids, all the little things you don't want to forget. You see, growing up, my mom always {always!} had a camera in her hand. I couldn't tell you how many huge photo albums sh

e filled up over the years. She also made sure we went to have 'formal' pictures taken, but those were for special occasions. My loved ones began passing away. Aunts, uncles, grandparents... my own Dad. And these photo albums were all we had left of them, and I treasure every single photograph. It doesn't matter what is actually captured, but being able to look back and have these day to day memories of what my family loved doing best, those are the pictures I love looking back on. And that's why I always seem to have my camera out. These pictures aren't really for me, or really even my children. They are for the generations to follow, to give them a glimpse at our lives. The journey of the red dress is a culmination of the creative hearts and minds of 11 talented women. Over the span of 1 year, the dress has quite literally seen history in the making. It is the thread connecting 11 lives around the world in a time when we are otherwise so incredibly isolated.

Just as Alice had to navigate her way through wonderland, we all find ourselves lost in curiosity on our way to adulthood. My brave, fearless Sofiah is growing up and blazing her own path now and I couldn’t be more proud of the young lady she has become. 13 looks amazing on her.
