NEIMAN MARCUS TO CLOSE IT’S DOWNTOWN DALLAS FLAGSHIP AFTER MORE THAN A CENTURY

After more than 100 years in Downtown Dallas, is set to close its iconic flagship store on March 31st. The closure isn’t tied to the recent Saks Global acquisition or business performance, but rather decades-long lease negotiation issues with their landlord, ultimately forcing them to terminate their occupancy.

A PIECE OF DALLAS HISTORY
Built in 1914, the store has been a staple of Downtown Dallas, surviving renovations, a fire, and expansions. In a statement, the VP Market General Manager Scott Mitchell shared, “for more than a century, Neiman Marcus has been a beloved institution in the Downtown Dallas community and we are disappointed to be losing a piece of our history due to circumstances beyond our control”.

$100 MILLION RENOVATION COMING TO NORTHPARK
While the Downtown Dallas location is closing its doors, Neiman Marcus is investing $100 million into a renovation at to reimagine the same shopping experience, and will be sharing more on those plans in the near future!

PLANS FOR EMPLOYEES
According to an internal memo, affected employees will receive transfer opportunities to nearby Neiman Marcus sites where possible, and “eligible colleagues who qualify will be offered appropriate separation packages.” Corporate employees in the offices above the store won’t be affected by the closure.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?
