My life and love are fresh flowers, on occasion clients need something with more longevity - when faux flowers are needed I am SUPER picky when I’m selecting and using them. Here are my rules of thumb for faux flowers/greenery.
1 - If it doesn’t exist in nature don’t buy it in a faux flower. Ie blue roses…blek
2 - Be willing to spend a little more.
Good faux flowers typically cost more than real flowers. Very, very rarely will you find a stem worth using at the dollar store.
3 - Fluff and bend.
Because faux flowers and greenery have wire running through them they can be bent and sculpted to suit your arrangement but, be sure to look to nature for the best way to do this. For example, if the greenery you are using drapes and droops in nature, don’t form it in the arrangement to be rigid and upright.
Please, please fluff your faux flowers/greenery. The best way to do this is by blowing a warm (not hot) hair dryer on them for a couple minutes
