Kick Off Labor Day & Football Season with Libby’s
Why We Celebrate Labor Day
Labor Day was born out of the American labor movement in the late 1800s, when workers fought for fair wages, safer conditions, and shorter workdays. The first Labor Day parade took place in New York City on September 5, 1882, with thousands marching in solidarity.
By 1894, it became a federal holiday under Grover Cleveland, honoring the hard work and dedication of American workers who built the nation. Today, it’s both a tribute to those efforts and the unofficial end of summer—perfect for barbecues, gatherings, and great drinks with friends.
Here’s to hard work, relaxation, and raising a glass to the long weekend!
