It’s like a paper towel and a sponge got married and had a baby - a beautiful, reusable, and environmentally-friendly baby! I just found out about them recently, but today I was gifted one printed with a design by my friend Erica, owner and head designer at bgoods13 (link in comments). This yellow matched my kitchen perfectly and added a little sunshine to a what was a really stormy week! Thank you, Erica!!

I am back, my baking babes. It was a wonderful two weeks of research, and now I’m home and ready to get back to work. Next on the event calendar is the Harvest Festival at Juanita Beach, here in Kirkland. I just saw that gwendolyn_the_cow is gonna be back this year… maybe I should do some cow cupcakes in her honor ?!?!

Today begins a two week vacation for me and my family. My husband reminded me earlier that I’ve been planning this trip for 15 years. 😂😂. We have lists of milestones to celebrate, including our 20 year wedding anniversary and both of us turning 50, but this has also turned into a memorial trip. You see, last week, my father passed away. I don’t usually get too personal on this page, but he was one of my biggest supporters of my business, always cheering me on. I will miss sharing my crazy business ideas with him and him going “have you checked with Ryan on that”??? 😂😂😂. We will be celebrating g his life with the entire family in March, but right now, I’m carrying him in my heart as we take this time to reconnect our family. See you in a few weeks, peeps!!

One of my favorite things that happens in my industry is when a client says “You have creative freedom. I trust you” and means it. I had a first-time client ask for a unicorn cake. I told her my skill set for sculpted or stacked cakes wasn’t there yet but I’d love to try a pull apart cupcake cake. And she allowed me to run with it!! This cake turned out WAY bigger than I’d anticipated, so I had to MacGyver a few things (like the box for transport) but it all turned out really well. And the birthday girl was super happy with it , and that’s really all that matters.
