For me, there are 2 kinds of summer knitting - the ones for wearing right now, and the "experiments" for next year's Retreats. Love, love,love the Sommer Ella Solo knit with Sandnes Line. And the Briochepride shawl is...pretty challenging! Glad I've got time to work it out! This year's final retreat is November 1-3. Preview coming soon.
Today were in Castine, enjoying some beautiful, COOLER temperatures and a lovely breeze. Perfect day for visiting a tiny town, sailing and...knitting!
The weather has turned on a dime! The first pics are clear skies and beautifulbreezes,the last is post-storm (just a few minutes uses of cooling rain). We're just within range of Castine, where we'll visit tomorrow. Can't wait to enjoy this lovely little town.
We're ready to sail! Everyone's here, the crew is hard at work, and...it's hot as blazes here in MAINE. But out on the water will be perfect. Standby for some great pics of our knitting and sailing adventure.

Sea Haven by Jennifer Shiels Toland (k it with Malabrigo Susurro) is my "backup plan" this weekend since the rain has kept me out of the garden. How does your garden grow?

Do you swatch? I never used to, but then...too many knits that didn't quite fit! So, now I swatch (more or less) enthusiastically. Since sometimes I swatch weeks or months before I decide to knit, I found d these little tags to be very useful. Needle size on one side, yarn on the other. Works like a charm. Oh, and sometimes the swatch doubles as a "practice" for an unfamiliar and/or difficult technique.
This lace collar belonged to my husband's grandmother. It was wrapped in a paper (last photo) that says, 'Lace collar which I wore over rose color blouse. Went to Cincinnati music hall to hear Padrefski piano. ' I'm guessing it dates from the 1910's. Does anyone know what style or kind of lace this is?
Are you a fan of summer knits? Every year, I want to jump start the warm weather with a light, cotton-y (or linen) creation, and this year it's Anker's Summer Shirt by . The yarn is Sandnes Garn Tynn Line (held double) and it's light as a feather and so soft! Love this so much, might make another.

Another UFO off the needles. I'm embarrassed to say I started this...years ago. It languished, needing just one sleeve and the finishing, till i picked it up about 2 weeks ago. The pattern is Tabouli by .carol and the yarn is (I think!) . Best part: it fits perfectly!
Do you see it? I didn't until it was bound-off, washed, blocked, and photographed! But I still love it, and Color Maven in my house is already busy trying to find a marker that will match the yarn and cover the mistake perfectly. FYI, this is Crooked River Wrap by knit with Rauma 3ply DK weight yarn.
We hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday! Now, let's relax and enjoy some knitting. On my needles, Crooked River Wrap, k it with Rauma 3Ply (dk). It's going to be cozy warm, and it's lots of fun to knit.
It's WIP reduction month! Feels like every December, I get the urge to finish up something g that's been lingering in the pile...some a LOT longer than others. On the top of my list to "free the needles" is the Lily of the Valley Estonian Lace Scarf by (Helene Wallin), the Ebba hat by (Kristin Drysdale) and a THIRD Aeria shawl by . And yes, I DO expect to finish all 3 in 2023!
Just waiting for it to dry! So pleased with my Goldenfern by , and can't wait to wear it. Oh, and a shout out to for their great service and wonderful selection of Rauma Finull. Now, to finish up some UFO'S.

Knit with a few "mystery" leftovers, and some Mrs. Crosby 's Hatbox, it was lots of fun to k it and I think my sister will really love the colors! And, of course, my virtue has no limits because it's done before December 24!
Why yes, pink really IS the best color! This is Goldenfern by Jennifer Steingass. The yarn is (mostly) Rauma finull (gray and palest pinks) and Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere. It's ALL love ❤️!
What's your color? Personally, I think all the colors are good, but pink is the best one. And apparently, my stash agrees!

Our sailing adventure with was amazing! So many wonderful knitters - and people who love knitters - in one place, enjoying the company, the scenery and the water. IF you missed it this year, don't worry. 2024 is right around the corner!

This rascal came to the door yesterday and is hungry! He's also pretty mad about not finding anything to munch on - he doesn't even like the bird seed that falls under the feeder (all safflower seeds). I don't think he's sick or hurt, just frustrated by the snow and searching for a meal. But I am keeping my eyes open when I go outside! #suburbanwildlife #raccoonsofinstagram
