My friends! I had the immense privilege of photographing the phenomenal (Google ‘duck running NYC marathon’ + cue: standing ovation). She and her humans are beyond excellent and, yep, I fell head over red booties deep deep love in with her (I mean LOOK AT HER).

First SHE IS THE SOFTEST EVAH! I thought the backs of elephant’s ears were incredible (AND OH YES THEY MOST CERTAINLY ARE) but when you pet a duck you cannot get over the DEPTH of softness as well as the DENSITY of softness. It is SOLID my friends. SOLID SOFTNESS. Pause for tactile comprehension.

Secondly, you cannot take your eyes off her. EVERYTHING she does is freaking magic. MAGIC I tell you. I wanted to hug her forever.

Being in her company is PURE JOY AND HAPPINESS. You just smile 360 degrees. Here we all were walking around ’s Park and people would see her and, as opposed to most NYCers who aren’t phased by people roller blading juggling glitter bombs, nearly everyone would stop, stare and ask “IS … THAT ... A … DUCK!?!?!?!?!” Everywhere she went, people smiled, laughed, and exclaimed glee. I truly felt I was in the presence of freaking magic.

Incredibly similar to my experience with the GREAT (oooh I HOPE this is a trend!), when I'm with animals I feel this intangible sense of completion, ease and happiness. I’m filled past the rim with absolute fulfillment. Animals are JOY. PURE JOY. We need to make the world a better place for them. Not sure what it is that makes me want to drop everything and just BE with them but it’s THERE. Spending time with Wrinkle the duck was infinity times better than anything I could ever imagine. A true highlight of my year.

HAPPY WORLD ELEPHANT DAY! 🐘💖🙌🏻💖🐘
I'm sure you know how much i LOVE elephants, right? Pretty obvious within 3 minutes of meeting me. Well, did you also know elephants all over the world are threatened by human poaching, habitat loss and climate change? ... AND there's a way YOU could HELP them???? *insert brain blow*

Yup! By supporting local communities who live with and devote their lives to protecting these truly extraordinary creatures YOU can help their survival.

But how Meredith? HOW?!?

SO GLAD YOU ASKED.
e.s.c.u.e, the first indigenous owned and operated elephant sanctuary in Africa, is the one of those truly remarkable communities. And , who I still can't believe I know, spent the last six years documenting their incredible story in her new award winning short film 'Shaba'.

What's even more remarkable is that she is donating ALL THE TICKET SALES to directly support these magnificent people and animals. ALL OF THEM. Did I mention I know her????

SO LONG OVERDUE! I wanted to take a moment to shout out to one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE DRESS MAKERS !
They make the MOST adorable, beautiful, HANDMADE dresses (and shhhhh often have sales!) I first discovered them on and then went straight to their shop online. And even made the pilgrimage to their actual location in Berlin Germany! The owner is delightful, so talented, inspired and lovely. I could not love them more! AND THEY HAVE POCKETS! (Of course).
I also have this in black (again OF COURSE!) and love every stitch. Every single time I wear one of their dresses I get compliments and always feel so very very fancy in them.
They make me so happy and I hope they can do the same for you.

Been photographing these remarkable sisters for 14 years, and every SINGLE one captured and album-ized! One of the true highlights of my year is flying to NC to photograph their gorgeous, brilliant, hearts, faces and minds. Watching these 3 grow over the past decade and a half has been one of the greatest most powerful things in my life. They are powerhouses. They are brilliant. They can do ANYTHING, and I could not love them more. See you in October when you are all teenagers! Wait… WHAA???? HOW CAN THAT EVEN BE???????

Happy Birthday to this most beautiful, hilarious, wonderfully silly, jumbo eyelash producing, heart filled incredible boy. Thank you (& your fam) for inviting me to capture your amazingness throughout the years. I hope these photographs mean even half as much to you in 20 years as they do to me now. I mean just look at you :)

Oldie and still a goodie.
- always better to have scheduled and shot the session, purchased the prints, albums and meaningful mementos for our walls and have them FOREVER to serve as part of our history, legacy and lives. ALWAYS worth the investment. And when this gorgeous, brilliant, amazing girl grows up and can always see how her (equally gorgeous, brilliant, amazing) mother looked at her she will feel that love. Every time. Ah. TOTALLY WORTH IT.

Guess what? I encourage kids to dress themselves for my sessions. YUP. THEY get to choose (if old enough of course). There are MANY MANY amaaaazingly talented photographers who shine at the whole ‘white button down shirts and jeans by the sea’ thang, but I prefer to capture life at its core. To me ‘perfection’ is ‘boring.’ I also smell milk chocolate coz I can’t eat it. Go figure.
