People often tell me, "Wow! Wedding planning sounds so glamorous!" And to that I say, "Well...sort of? Sortofbutnotreally." If by glamorous you mean a privilege to be neck-deep in weddings all the time, then YES! If you mean it's special to be so involved in the production of this part of people's lives, then YES! If you think it's cool that I get to be there behind the scenes, then YES!
But I gotta tell you, it's also filling out spreadsheets. It's lots of emails between the client and caterer and I ironing out the linen rental order. It's talking with clients about how stressed they are and helping them determine which items to prioritize and which hills not to die on. And on the wedding day, it's arriving first and leaving last, unpacking, setting out, and packing up all of the decor at the end of the night.
I was talking with one of my best friends about how people tend to misunderstand the "glamour" of my job and she said, "Well, you're there to do your job so that someone else experiences a glamorous event." And I thought "Ahah! That's it! The glamour is there around me and everyone feels it and sees it, but I'm the one who feels it in my back and feet at the end of the night!" 😂 And honestly, that's how I prefer it. There's no other gift I'd rather give my clients on their wedding day than a smooth and beautiful day.

Hey Instagram, it's me, MaKenna! I know I don't post very often, but it's because time has felt so scarce to me. Here are a few things I've been up to:
🌲 I've been powering through the busiest wedding season I've ever had, with weddings every single weekend for months at a time.
🌲 I moved permanently back to the Bay Area and completed my last Oregon wedding on the books.
🌲 After postponing my wedding and eloping in 2020, I finally had my own wedding last month! ❤️ It has been such a significant learning experience for me to be in the postponement/covid bride bandwagon with my clients. It has given me so much perspective and helped me understand what my clients have been going through. While I am relieved that the planning is finally over and I can get back to only planning weddings for clients, it was a beautiful experience I will cherish forever.

🌲 As wedding season winds down I will try to post on social media more! So excited for the extra time I will have to invest back into myself and my job once the dust from this year has time to settle.

One month ago today my best friends married each other. 😍 I had the honor of coordinating their micro wedding. In a lot of cases, my clients feel like best friends by their wedding day, and in this case, we were besties before too. These photos are giving me life but also tears of joy!
