Beth Chappelow | President and Founder

Beth founded Chappelow Events in 2014. She loves working closely with clients year after year and getting to celebrate their success alongside them. The most fulfilling part of her role is seeing how CE helps to advance mission-work with so many organizations.

Laddie Lilly | Vice President

Laddie has been at CE for six years. She has loved seeing how much the company has grown and having a hand in continuing that growth. Her favorite part about planning events is being a small part in making a change in the Kansas City community.

Variety KC Aubrey’s Book Launch | Starlight Theatre 

Launching the third book in the Variety Tales series, the Aubrey’s Dream book launch was an outstanding success! With featured guest speaker, Tony Award-winning actress, Ali Stroker, Aubrey and Ali inspired Variety KC families through their stories and passion for the performing arts.

Our production and design team dreamt up whimsical installations to bring Aubrey’s story to life. Thank you to all of the amazing vendors that made this happen! ♥️

Research is showing that potential guests/attendees enjoy watching the raw and/or behind the scenes shots of events. They deliver first-hand experiences (FOMO is real).

These social shots paired with your professional photos build credibility and showcase authenticity.

Likewise, they can increase future engagement. Post-event, create a story highlight on your Instagram profile. You can collect tagged story highlights in addition to your own. This can help attract new audiences to your event, especially for those who won’t scroll through your profile.

TIP: For video clips, the average attention span on a story highlight currently stands at 8 seconds. Meaning, you have 8 seconds to convince a viewer why they should attend.

Are you attempting to bring new life to your event?

It's important to stay on top of trends that correspond with your goals and desired outcomes.

Here are a few entertainment trends that we are seeing across the board. Save this post for when you are planning for your next event!

Pop Up Performances
Add a fun flare to your event with surprise pop-up performances. Consider creative performance platforms, accent lighting, and branding to create memorable moments.

Flash Mobs
No longer just experiential marketing campaigns, flash mobs have made their way into event production. They can help transition guests to different parts of your program and point to important portions of the event.

Interactive Food Service
It’s time to serve up a more imaginative experience! Now is a great time to revamp the acrobatic champagne service, dancing entree distribution or wearable hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour.

Live auctions can hold great power and great responsibility. Depending on your crowd, donor base, and auctioneer, this part of your fundraiser could greatly increase or decrease your revenue outcome. Yay and/or yikes!

How do you execute a successful live auction? Here are a few pieces to consider. Save this post for later!

Evaluate what is enticing to your audience. If you are purchasing consignment packages, consider sharing a poll or survey with potential guests/sponsors. This could also build more excitement around your event.

Determine what personal connections could contribute to your live auction. The most financially beneficial route is to secure the majority of your packages via full donation, so focus on those potential in-kind donors.

Compile items into meaningful packages. Sometimes well intentioned solicitors can return with awkward, random auction items. We see this in silent auctions, too. Look at the big picture, research, and package items in a way that is enticing, balanced, and easy to market.

Interview your auctioneer. How do they communicate onsite? Do they inspire action? What methods do they use to transition to different fundraising components? Bonus points if your auctioneer has a personal connection to your organization's mission.
