Big changes ahead!!

As much as I love “playing” with flowers and creating unique pieces I will be taking a step back from Black Iris Floral Designs. It takes a lot to run a small business on your own and keep up with the needs of your family.
I have decided instead, to give freelancing a try. I will be offering my talents and knowledge to other florists who may need extra help for large weddings, events and holidays.

I have just begun this process and started a Linked In page. Please follow it (and excuse me while I try and learn the new [to me] technology)… link in comments.

I will also be changing the Black Iris website around to reflect this new chapter. SO!!! If you’ve worked with me before, or if I’ve worked for you, if you’ve been a client, please email me a review about what that experience was like. (Email in comments).

I’ve been quiet on here, but it’s because when I take photos of my work they look NOTHING like what the professionals do. For example, Sweet Ginger Photography DELIVERED with this pic. Thank you for showcasing my work… but really, it’s the bride that shines. Congrats to Hannah. Stunning.

Jumping for joy as we are well into pride month and Black Iris has just finished setting up our third q***r wedding in a row!! I proudly celebrate the fact that I am an inclusive, supportive ally; and am so grateful for the opportunity to have worked with these couples! Happy pride month 🏳️‍🌈

As 2 of my dear friends were packing up suitcases to go on a vacation with their sons to celebrate their 20 year anniversary, Melissa (Maddy) began to feel what she thought was severe acid reflux. Thankfully, Maddy has an amazingly caring wife, Melissa who urged her to go get it checked out before their trip.
They got to the hospital expecting to be sent home with a prescription. But they weren’t sent home. Instead they spent 13 days inpatient and received a devastating, unexpected diagnosis. Maddy was told that she has a very aggressive disease; Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Maddy and Melissa’s friends and family rallied immediately and planned to celebrate their 20th anniversary with a vow renewal! Somehow we threw it all together in a short period of time. It was earlier today, and it was perfect.
The goals now are to celebrate life to its fullest; to check items off of their bucket list, to make lasting memories with their sons and live each day to its absolute fullest.
“Adventure is out there!” I will attach the link to their GoFundMe in the comments if you are willing to contribute to their “adventure fund.”Any “extra” funds will eventually be used for things like making their house handicap accessible so that Maddy can stay comfortably at home with her family as long as she can.

Right now I’m still on cloud 9 having been in a room filled with so much love, so I just had to share these photos! I know the quality isn’t great, but the love clearly shines through. I can’t wait to share the professional pictures once they come back!
