Unfortunately, for many employees, team building has a negative word association. That’s because, when those individuals hear the phrase “Team Building” they think of trust falls or rope courses, or another type of activity that they are immediately agonizing over.

Let the record show that trust falls do not boost team camaraderie or strengthen the group.

In fact, organizing team building activities that make employees uncomfortable is the opposite of an effective team building.

At our recent 26th Annual Franchise Owner Conference, PIRTEK USA partnered with Wildy Different (Wildly Different Team Building Experiences) to bring warmth and joy to the children at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. As a team, our dedicated franchisees crafted and donated 40 cozy blankets, 100 plush toys, and materials for art projects, all accompanied by heartfelt messages.

Together, we enjoyed making a difference where it matters most.

We know, we know, this week's Wednesday Wisdom seems familiar.

"Consider the group" or "Know your demographic" - but no matter how obvious the piece of advice seems, it needs to be reiterated...

Just recently, we had a group where attendees showed up in business professional attire for a fun, physical team building event. The only person who was excited about the event? The person in charge who "booked" the activity.

While of course it's important for the "boss" be excited about your group's team builder, it's just as important for the rest of the group to be excited about it too. Without active participation, you're defeating the purpose of hosting a team building experience (bringing he group together, bonding, etc.) - not to mention wasting your investment.

Another team member would like to reintroduce herself, and that is none other than Mac, our Manager of Making It Happen! 👋
As a very dynamic individual, Mac is balancing her life outside of work as a wife and a mom with two toddlers. As an expat living in Mexico, she enjoys challenging her mind while learning more Spanish, and of course the comedy that comes along with it. 😂
To ease her mind she loves to watch Runaway Bride with a bucket of popcorn and all the fixings (truffle oil, parmesan, garlic, salt and pepper). She works remotely but is no stranger to flying back to the US to host some of our Game Shows, which are her favorite, especially when it has a give back component! 🎤🎲

It's not uncommon for a lot of children living in poverty to be food insecure during the summer months while school is out. For some, school lunch may be one of the few guaranteed meals in their day.
