You don’t have to COVID test for Beltane! You just need to bring your vaccination records. We require the initial series plus one booster.

I want to express my profound gratitude to everyone involved with this year’s event. The staff, presenters, ritual team, fire crew, camp staff, and, of course, attendees made Beltane a wonderful experience. The weather was gorgeous. Camp is more colorful than ever. In the beforetimes, we used to have a lovely ribbon code to indicate how approachable each of us was. It's a bit wasteful, and at THE we're always trying to figure out ways to be kinder to the planet. So this year we're going to try out a new Star Code using star-shaped stickers. You can get these stickers at check-in and there will be some at the Coffee Club as well. They should be put on your badges and you can take one for each side so if your badge flips around they're still visible. And you can wear more than one if that more accurately describes you. For example, some people are both shy and friendly.
If you don't see a star on a badge, please assume RED. Here at THE we are big on consent. Lack of information should be interpreted as lack of consent.
Here's the proposed meanings. I'm happy to hear about edits, but I have to make the signs this afternoon, so say something fast if you want to see changes this year.
Star Code:
- Red: Assume I don't want to be approached unless I invite you to do so.
- Blue: Ask before even approaching.
- Green: I'm friendly, but you should still ask before hugging or touching me.
- Silver: I'm shy, please say hello.
- Gold: Anything goes.

COVID policy for THE Beltane 2023:
Before I go further, please note that major changes to the COVID landscape may force us to change this policy. If you are registered for the event, you will receive email notification if this changes. Having said that...
This year we will be requiring proof of vaccination (at least the first round and one booster, so both Moderna or Pfizer shots and a booster or the J&J shot and a booster). Your booster will need to have been administered more than two weeks before the event. If you cannot vaccinate due to health issues or other issues, we unfortunately will have to ask you to take this year off.
We will not be requiring testing this year, however, we may choose to check you for fever when you arrive and then require a test if you have one.
We will not be requiring masking indoors but do encourage you to mask anyway. In any event, it is against the rules of the event to hassle someone else about whether or not they wear a mask. You will not be required to wear a mask in the dining hall or playspace.
If your cabin group includes people with immune issues, we will have a sign you can put on your door to keep other campers who aren't staying with you from going into your sleeping space. Ask for one at the gate. By the same token, if you are tenting, please be aware that you may not be allowed to use the bathrooms in some cabins. The bathrooms in the quads (7,8,9,10 and 11,12,13,14 and ABCD and OPQR) will always be available for tenters as will the two bathrooms in the Horseshoe (G-N).
If you have any questions about this policy, please let me know. And, again, bear in mind that we may need to adjust this policy as we get closer to the event.

For next year's event, we have decided to change our pricing tiers. They are no longer by date, but instead the first 50 registrants will get the lowest price, and then the next 50 will get the middle price, and the last 50 will get the final price (which, yes, will be higher). Hi, Beltane campers! I'm just up from a good night's sleep at home and hope you made it home safely. I feel the need to express unbounded gratitude to all of you who made the event so wonderful. I'm a salty old event producer (I'm older than I look, I hope) who rarely gets misty-eyed over things any more, but I found myself tearing up over and over at the event this year. My tears of joy and thankfulness go out this morning to the attendees who filled the camp with their joy and their tolerance of the chilly nights. They go out to the presenters who shared so generously of their knowledge and passion. They go out to the ritual team who perfectly and lyrically expressed what was in my (and many of our) hearts and raised the Spirit of Ramblewood up for us to celebrate with. They go out to the staff who unstintingly gave of their time and energy so that the event could be smooth and successful.
You are all Beltane to me, full of the awakening of the earth and passion of the fire and the cleverness of the air and the love of the water. Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU!

I'm going to use this thread to try to keep you updated about programming that we have to cancel because of positive covid test. I'll comment below with them as they come in. Unfortunately, we have already had two presenters cancel as of the time of this writing. I hope there won't be more.
For those of you who are registered to attend our sold-out event, there is very useful information at this link about the event this year and also testing requirements. The essence is that you must have a negative PCR test within 72 hours of your planned arrival on site. Check-in for the event opens at 4 pm on Wednesday the 27th.

A few people have asked if we will be holding THE Crossroads this year. We will not be doing so. A quick explanation: My life has changed pretty radically since COVID, like many of you. I now have a day job that isn't so flexible in terms of me taking time off to do other things, and my priorities have shifted as well. Because of that, I really only have one event a year in me. Many of my staff are in similar situations. So we'll put on one event per year for now and see what the future holds.
