Join Chef Aliza for an intimate, hands-on Passover cooking workshop that explores the rich ritual and cultural diversity of the Seder table. Together, we’ll prepare a festive Passover meal inspired by Jewish communities from around the world, learning traditional dishes and creative contemporary interpretations along the way.

Using the symbols of the Seder plate as our inspiration, Aliza will weave tradition into modern recipes for the holiday meal. Participants will cook the dishes and prepare several versions of charoset from different Jewish traditions and communities, while discovering new spices, flavors, and stories from across the Jewish world.

We’ll cook side by side, then sit down together to enjoy the meal we’ve prepared, share stories of the holiday, and connect around the table.

The event will take place at a private house in the El Cerrito Hills. Directions will be provided after tickets are purchased.

Workshop is kosher-style meat format meaning there will be no mixing of meat and dairy. The meat used will be meat that is permitted to eat, but it will not have a kosher certification. -

Join me in Israel!
In a previous update, I shared a plan for a culinary trip to Israel—an opportunity to explore the country through food, culture, and experiences. The trip was scheduled for September, but sadly, we had to cancel as the war was still raging.

On my last visit to Israel, I met with my partners at Shorashim to discuss how we could still bring people to Israel in a meaningful way. While our culinary tour didn’t feel right for this moment, we saw a real need for visits that focus on support, connection, and economic impact.

That’s how this new trip came to life. While food will still be a central theme, this experience will also include more hands-on volunteering, meetings with people affected by the events of October 7, and visits to communities in the north and south. Instead of the usual Tel Aviv and Jerusalem itinerary, we’ll go off the beaten path to engage with those rebuilding their lives and help share their stories.

This will be a shorter and more affordable trip, running June 8-12. Send me a message if you are interested and we will continue the conversation. -
