Our DeSilva DMC team had an unforgettable day hosting our friends from Grand Wailea for a Hawaiian Cultural Experience at Paia Bay. From a Welcome 'Oli and ‘Awa Ceremony to frond weaving and storytelling, we immersed ourselves in the rich traditions of Hawai‘i. 🌿🏝️

The ‘oli (chant) is a traditional Hawaiian way to seek permission to enter a space, ask for blessings, or welcome guests with respect and aloha.

Awa (kava) is a sacred drink made from the root of the Piper methysticum plant and has been used in Hawaiian culture for centuries in rituals and social gatherings.

Mahalo to everyone from Grand Wailea who joined us for this special day of learning, sharing, and celebrating the beauty of Maui! 🌊💙

🌸 Plumeria (Singapore Graveyard Flower): Known for its heavenly fragrance and symbolic connection to renewal, these blossoms brought serenity to every corner.

🍃 Carissa macrocarpa (Natal Plum): With its glossy leaves and starry flowers, this tropical beauty added a touch of elegance to the landscape.

🌼 Yellow Hibiscus (Shoeblackplant): Hawai'i’s state flower stole the show with its golden blooms - a symbol of sunshine and aloha.

🌿 Fern: The verdant ferns created a lush, enchanting backdrop, weaving nature’s magic into every scene.
