Such a fabulous weekend! Feeling creatively refreshed after a woodland workshop with , held by . Growing up in the PNW forest, I’ve long admired Francoise’s woodland styling, attention to detail, and gorgeous use of textures. As a child I spent hours in the woods, examining moss and picking wildflowers, eating huckleberries and building tree forts with my brother. Taking this workshop took me back to those carefree days! I had the extreme honor of creating this floral spray in memory of a dear friend’s grandfather. Though I didn’t know him, he loved red, and I was immediately inspired by these delicate James Storie red aranthera orchids.
Designing a memorial piece is so much more than just putting some flowers together that look pretty. It’s a way to pay tribute to and honor the incredible life of someone in a way that only flowers can-without words.

I don’t typically post personal things, but after all the crazy weather in the PNW a sunny, warm date night in PDX to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary seems fitting. This guy never fails to make me laugh. Here’s to 16 more years!

It’s clearly been a very long time since my last post! Like so many of you, when COVID emerged my business took a serious hit financially. There were many days when I thought I should just shut down altogether. Instead, I had an opportunity to pivot to a completely different job as a preschool teacher. It wasn’t what I ever imagined myself doing, but in the absence of my creative outlet I found something I could be passionate about in a different way. Now that weddings and events are ramping back up, I’m finding I am able to channel my creative energy into the ones I really feel excited about and connect to, while still spending quality time during the week with my classroom of littles.

Rainy day fall vibes from this Arbutus unedo, aka Strawberry tree. An evergreen small tree/large shrub with lovely bark and year-round interest, these red fruits are actually edible (though quite seedy and fairly bland fresh), and can be distilled or used in preserves.

Morning Celebration of Life delivery! This family has had to wait an entire year to honor their loved one due to Covid restrictions. Some of my favorite cheerful spring colors to use as a tribute to a life well-lived.
If you are traveling near the small town of Newberg, OR please pop into this gem of a shop, ! On a recent anniversary trip with my husband we wandered in here; having no idea he already had a bouquet of tulips waiting in our Airbnb from these talented flower farmer florists! Such a fun surprise!

Check out this gorgeous book and immerse yourself in the photographs and descriptions of foraging flowers in her current hometown in Portugal. Post-Covid vacation dreams anyone?!!
