WHEN AND HOW TO PRUNE A ROSE BUSH FOR AMAZING BLOOMS 🌹

Pruning roses might sound intimidating, but it's simpler than you think! Follow this easy guide for healthy, thriving bushes:

🌟 When to Prune:

Spring: The best time to prune most roses is in early spring when new growth starts, typically after the last frost.
Fall (optional): Light pruning in fall can help tidy up the bush and prevent wind damage during winter.
✂️ How to Prune a Rose Bush:

1️⃣ Prepare Your Tools:

Use sharp, clean shears to prevent tearing branches or spreading disease.
2️⃣ Start with the 3 D's:

Remove Dead, Damaged, and Diseased wood first. Look for black, brittle, or broken stems.
3️⃣ Shape the Bush:

Cut the canes at a 45° angle, about ¼ inch above an outward-facing bud. This encourages the bush to grow outward, not inward.
4️⃣ Thin the Canes:

Remove weak, spindly stems and any branches that cross or rub against each other.
Leave 3-5 healthy canes for a strong framework.
5️⃣ Focus on Airflow:

Aim for a vase-like shape with an open center. This improves air circulation and reduces fungal diseases.
6️⃣ Feed and Mulch:

After pruning, give your roses a boost with fertilizer and a fresh layer of mulch. 🌱
