The scripture my mother instilled in me from a young age, which has since become my favorite, says, "A man's gift makes room for him and brings him before great men" (Proverbs 18:16). Over the time, I've received messages, calls, and questions from people—some you’d never expect—asking me how I made | make what I consider little things happen, how did I get certain opportunities, get in that place or position... My response always begins with that scripture, followed by this advice: keep your hands clean, your motives pure, and your intentions towards others sincere, and you’ll always have the upper hand. The way will always be made because HE will always know your truth.
But today, I feel the need to add something more. When you find yourself standing before those "great men," make sure you’re still operating in your gift. And be mindful—those "great men" should not be ones you reached through deceit or manipulation. If you do, don’t blame God when things eventually fall apart and you find yourself stuck in the same place with those same men that are holding you right there. You made that choice, not Him.
WHILE OPERATING IN YOUR GIFT, remember, true greatness isn't intimidated by greatness. Instead, it inspires and empowers others to grow, with no hidden agendas or ulterior motives. You don't always need to be seen or known by many, just make sure you're known, and your character is good by the ones HE'S placed in your path.
